Lila

My mind went blank when he said my name. How could we be mates? I'm just a teenager. Jane said they were the loves of their life. How could he love me? His kid sisters best friend.

"Lila? Are you alright?" Landon asked softly. I looked down at him and stared. I looked deep into his ocean eyes. I swam as deep as I would allow. I almost drowned. Almost.

"Yes. I'm alright." I moved to sit next to him and stared straight ahead. How could he ever love me? Why would he ever love me? He could have anyone in the world. But hes stuck with me. Wait. Hes stuck with me.

He is my mate. A guaranteed love. I will never have to be alone. I have...family. I made the quick move to hug him around the neck. I felt a trickle of something on my arm. I pulled away to see he's crying.

"What's wrong?" I asked wiping away a few tears, but they were quickly replaced.

"I'm so happy." He smiled and tears poured even more.

"Well stop. You look silly. It's not that big of a deal." I laughed.

"When you are older I will explain to you why your wrong." He mumbled staring into my eyes. I hugged him again and breathed in his scent. It has changed from the soft baby power scent to one of my favorite scents. Moonlight Path from Bath and Body works. I love that smell but we cant afford anything lush. Beth barley scraps up money for my phone. She has one but her work pays for it. She is a personal assistant for some fancy lawyer. Every now and then he raises her pay for no reason. He knows she has me and struggles sometimes. I like him.

"What are you thinking about?" He asked curiously. I came back to this world and smiled a bit.

"Just this guy. I really like him." He growled a little.

"I hope it's me." I felt his muscles. He must work out a lot.

"No. It's my aunts boss." He looked confused but didn't ask. We finally got up and went back to living room. Jane had a huge grin on her face. I flopped next to her and once again Landon sat in front of us.

Hey, I heard in my head. I jumped and let out and small scream. But no one moved a muscle they kept on with life.

"You didn't tell her about mink link?" Jason laughed.

"I thought Jane would." Landon shrugged.

We can talk to each other in out heads, I heard again. Cool beans. She got her phone and opened the camera.

What are you doing?, I said trying it out.
Play with his hair. I've seen others do it to their mates and they purr. I need blackmail. We grinned together. I started out playing with a lock of his hair. He leaned his head back and closed his eyes. I ran my fingers up and down his scalp. I held back laughter when a loud purr filled the room. Jackson pulled his phone and took a video too. After a minute or so we all laughed. His eyes flew open and we scattered. Jackson, Jane, and I made it to the second floor. We heard Jason get tackled.

"Surrender!" Landon yelled playfully.

"Never!" I yelled. We got to third floor. We decided every man for his own. I went to a random room and closed the door. I flipped on the lights. An office?

Why would there be and office

Why would there be and office. Oh wait...He's an alpha. He has to have an office right? I looked around for a second. Then I felt hands on my arms. I screamed and gave a hard punch to the air. But I hit something that wasn't air. Of course it was Landon. An angry bruise began to show. I felt a twinge of pain in the same spot on my face.

"Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry." I took his face in my hands while he laughed.

"That was hilarious!" I heard from the doorway. Also of course Jane was there, laughing. I looked back at his face and the bruise. I'm guessing that they can heal quickly. I let out a shaky breath. My knuckles starting to throb. I looked down at my hand. Yikes. My hand started to become a mix of purple and blue.

"Woah." He gasped looking at my hand. He examined my hand with great care. I barely felt his fingers. The warmth felt good though.

"Ouch!" Jane yelped. I looked up and she was clutching the same hand but it looked fine.

"Since you two are soul sister you can feel each others pain. Like mates do." Landon informed. Jane rolled her eyes.

"That's just great." She said sarcastically.

"Well I will feel the same thing once the process is started." My eyebrows knitted together in confusion.

"Process?" I questioned. Landon showed some weird emotion but he recovered quickly.

"It's nothing to worry about." He said pulling me out of the office and down stairs. He sat me in kitchen and I heard the twins coming down the stairs, laughing. Must be nice to have siblings. Then Jane smacked my arm with a glare.

"What was that for?" I said all whiny.

"You have me. Don't be a jerk off." My eyes widened. She just said that with Landon in the room. We only cuss or use dirty talk when were alone. Ew. The last part sounded bad. We have talked about how hot guys are and stuff though.

"Watch your mouth." Landon said putting ice in a bag. "Your 13. Stop cussing." He handed me the bag and I put it on my hand. One of his was dark green and almost black. The other was bright blue.

"He's talking to Oliver." Jane filled in the silence.

"Who's Oliver?" I asked dumbly.

"His wolf. They are like our second personality." I watched his eyes change back and forth. They settled on dark green. Well I guess this is Oliver.
