Lila

I kept dreaming about that boy who saved us every time I fell asleep. He looked so painfully familiar. I woke up in a cold sweat and couldn't go back to sleep. I decided to do some homework of my own. I went up the attic where we kept the few boxes we got from the house. It has filled up significantly since the last time we brought them up here. I tried to remember where we put them but my memory was not the best at the moment. Concussions suck man. So I started looking through each box. After a while I heard someone come up the steps and into our room. It has to be Landon.

"What are you doing up here?" I heard his voice behind me. My suspicions were confirmed.

"I'm trying to find something." I mumbled. "Do you know where the boxes we brought from my old house are at?"

"They're either here or in my office closet." He started to look threw boxes as well but then stopped.

"Wait a second I'm angry with you." He said with a hint of confusion. "Why in the hell did you sneak out and do something that dangerous?" He shouted.

"I know that your upset but can we please find those boxes first. It's really important to me." I said giving him puppy dog eyes. He sighed and continued to look through boxes.

"Come here. Look at what I found." He sounded very happy. I went over and saw him holding up a picture of the twins.

Flashback

"Do you really have to go?" I asked tearfully. Jason sighed and I knew he was upset as well.

"Yes. We will never get an opportunity like this again. I feel terrible and I will miss you so much." Jackson stepped in to comfort me. They were offered Beta position with a pack that has twin Alphas. I knew that they were getting a replacement. But I like these guys.

"Promise you'll check in?" I asked sucking up the tears.

"Yes of course." I let them go because that was the right thing to do.

End

The replacement was Jayden. So everything turned out okay. I think. He put the framed picture back and we continued looking. Alas the box was not in the attic. We cleaned up the best we could and went down to his office.

"Can you reach up?" I asked tiredly. After the past few days any type of activity I'm ready to for into a coma.

"Sure thing shorty." Instead of taking the bait I just waited for the box. He grabbed a 2'x2' box that had a thing layer of dust on it. My terrible handwriting was scrawled on the sides in black marker. I tried to celebrate my muscles protested. He set the box on the desk with a heavy thud. I opened the tabs and could've cried. Inside the box were some of my old stuffed animals, t-shirts, and knick knacks. But the one thing I was looking for was at the very bottom. A thick leather photo album. I pulled it out then yanked the box onto the floor.

"I found it." I let out a breath of relief. I flipped it open to the first page. The very first picture was a chubby baby. Me. I turned a few pages and saw the people I were looking for. My parents. Of course they would be older but these were what I was looking for. And my suspicions were confirmed.

"What is so important about this?" He asked confused.

"There was a boy who helped us escape. I saw him but couldn't figure out where I saw him at before. But then I remembered but had to have a picture to compare." I took the small family photo out and held it up so he could see better. "He looked exactly like my dad but with my mothers eyes." I pointed to each thing as I mentioned them.

"Are you sure? We ran genetic tests a while ago and it said you had no other siblings."

"Yes I'm sure." Then the reality dawned. "If I have a brother then why was he at a house full of hunters." I started to hyperventilate. "I need to talk to Jane." I started to turn around to go find her but Landon grabbed my arm.

"You can't see her. She's detoxing so she's not going to be very nice to you or anyone."

"What do you mean?" I relaxed my arms. "She was drunk?"

"Yes her alcohol levels were through the roof." He looked casual.

"But she was sober when she was taken right? So they fed her alcohol while she was captured?" He furrowed his eyebrows.

"Yes? Where else?" He's confused.

"So how did they know she was an alcoholic?" He was no longer confused.

"Maybe it was just coincidence?" He sounded sure of himself. I wanted to run and hide. I wanted to breakdown and cry. I wanted to feel something other than fear and confusion. I did only one of those things. I dug my nails into my hand and tried to think of something, anything, to do. "Lila, cherry, please stop." He gently took my hand and opened it to set my palm on his.

"I just don't know what to do." I have never felt so helpless in my life.

"Neither do I." He sighed and that's when I saw how tired he really was. His eyes weren't as bright as they usually are and dark bags accompanied them. His whole body seemed like it was ready to collapse. We are going to need a spa day when this is all said and done. "I have to go attend to something. Alpha duties. Would you like to come?"

"Sure. I need to exercise my title a little." I ignored the signals of rest my body sent me and followed him out of the house. Hopefully today we can get things done.
