Chapter 49

Landon

I stood up as quickly as possible and went out the door of the hospital. I didn't take the time to take my clothes off. I shifted and took off towards the main house. I need to gather as many as possible so we can make a plan of attack. The second I got there I only grabbed a pair of basketball shorts and I took the front steps two at a time. I slammed the front door and went to my office. Jayden was there already looking like someone died.

"There's something you need to see." He said grimly. He let a stack of photos slide across my desk. I looked them up and I could have set fire with my gaze. Pictures of Zachary meeting with know hunters and rogues covered my desk. I let slammed the one my desk and almost shifted right there.

"How long has this been happening?" My voice trembled with pure fury.

"These go as far back as a few years ago." He shook his head. "I wanted to wait to tell you but I knew this was time sensitive stuff." I had to close my eyes and take a deep breath before I shifted in the house.

"Where is he?" He shrugged his shoulders. "Find out." I stormed back out and was ready to kill. That's why I took time to go one a run. I shifted and let Oliver take over fully.

Meanwhile....

Lila

I was in the psych ward for my meltdown. There was someone to check on me every 15 minutes. I do feel bad for it and I don't really want to die. But they won't believe me. They said a doctor will have to determine it tomorrow. I was sitting on a chair my the window when someone knocked on the door. I turned to see Jayden walk in. He gave a smile.

"How are you?" He asked sitting on the bed.

"I'm fine now." I sighed. "I wish I knew where Landon was."

"Yeah me too. He came by the house a few hours ago then just left again." He shook his head. "He worries me sometimes." I agreed.

"I hope he comes to visit me soon. I want to apologize to him for how I acted."

"I know how you can make it up to him." He said after a long pause. I stared at him for more of an explanation. "He's going to make a search party to find where they are. You should sneak out and go with them." My stomach lurched.

"I don't know about that. he will be able to smell me and the nurses..."I trailed off.

"I can handle that." He pulled a very small spray bottle out of his pocket and handed it to me. It held a sorta cloudy liquid. I took off the cap and smelled it. Scentless. "It covers up any scent. Even wolf scent which is extremely hard to cover. So it can cover human scent easily." He grinned.

"Eh I don't know Jayden. I don't know how to fight and if I get caught it will be a big deal..." He stood up abruptly.

"You have to go Lila." He paced. "People are starting to question you as Luna. Don't you want to prove yourself?" I stared at the wall then nodded. "Then go and prove yourself. You can do it, I believe in you." He took my arm and pulled me from my chair. "Let me go get something." He left and was gone for 10 seconds. He came back with a plastic bag. Be ready within the next hour." Then he was gone. I looked in the bag and saw leggings, a tank top, a black jacket, a hat, and running shoes. I guess tonight will be the night I show I am strong.

Landon

It was in the dark for a while before he let me take control again. This is just too much to handle. Now I understand why Lila broke down the way she did. I got back to the pack house to see if they found where that scum is.

"His location is unknown. We had Oxana try and trace his phone but he had his location turned off." Jayden informed me. The fiery anger I felt burned threw me once again. I wish I could hold Lila to make me feel better but I knew running to her wasn't an option.

"We need to go to the places that didn't get searched because these pieces of trash need to be found." I leaned against the wall and tried to think of what to do.

"How about we just try and form a search party and go from there?" He suggested.

I need any available person training or not to come to the main house. Wear clothes easily carried and for long journeys., I mind linked the pack. Within about 10 minutes 34 people showed up. Everyone looked like ghosts but they were ready to fight at moment notice. My pack is strong and I know to rely on them.

"Okay everyone. Tonight we will find where the culprits are. I do not expect a fight but be ready for one. We will not attack tonight but when we know how to take them down easily. So we will use this," I held up a spray given to me by Jayden that covers scent, "and we will make it like we never were there." I handed the bottle to the nearest pack member. They sprayed it like they would perfume and passed it on. When everyone was covered we moved out. We ran threw our woods to other territories and unclaimed ones until we reached our first abandoned house.

After checking it thoroughly and found nothing we moved onto the next one. And the next one. And the next one. Then we came across a whole subdivision of large 2 and 3 story houses. Some even half way built. Upon inspection of the papers on dusty doorways, we found they all had termite infestations. Instead of bug bombing they just simply moved away. We split into groups and I noticed a girl that always avoided eye contact with me go off on her own. I started to go after her when someone called my name quietly.

I walked to the person and they pointed to a house on the very end of the drive. A single light was on in the upstairs window. Then someone walked by it and turned it off. We moved closer and heard a plethora of steps and voices. The scent of rogues was so strong that it made me gag. I knew this was the place Jane was. Where the enemy was.

Now that we found the hideout we must make a plan. Go as quietly as possible and we will regroup at the main house., I mindlinked the people. Each nodded slowly and disappeared into the foliage. All except for Jayden and the girl who went off alone. The second I started to go over to them she took off in a dead sprint. Jayden tried to grab her but she was too fast. I could have spit acid right then and there.

"What is she doing?" I hissed out.

"Trying to play the hero I guess." He rested his hands on the back of his neck. "Let her go man. If she gets hurt or killed then it's of her own doing."

"I don't want that to happen but there's nothing I can do to stop it." I felt my heart squeeze in my chest. I ignored the feeling and pulled Jayden's arm slightly. "We have to go before we get caught." We ran all the way to the house and I just couldn't help but feel something was off. I foolishly ignored it again but I didn't know it would cost me huge this time.
