Lila
A part of me went back to the child I was when she left. When they left. Then a fire deep inside me lit. Hate filled my blood and soul.
"I should have known." My voice was cold. It made her frown. The gun she had in her hand got shoved into the waistband of her pants.
"Known what, honey?" She kneeled in front of me and forced my chin down. She examined the top of my head. Someone passed her a bottle of water and she opened it, holding it to my lips. "Don't spit at me." She warned me. She poured the water into my mouth and then covered it with her hand. I was forced to swallow it not knowing what was in it. What was left in the bottle was dumped on my head. I shook the droplets off. Bloody water dripped into my eyes making it sting.
"What are you doing?" I jerked my head away from her hand.
"Looking at your injuries, now hold still." She poked and prodded the cut making it bleed more. "It's just skin deep. You'll be fine." She stood up and walked to the side I can't see. Black blurred at the edge of my eyes. I had to screw my eyes shuts so the world would stop spinning.
"She needs a doctor." Landon said with finality.
"I'm her mother. I know that she'll be fine." I scoffed.
"So now you claim me?" I said with a cold laugh.
"I've always claimed you." She said softly. "You are my baby."
"So why leave? Why go away then have another child?" Landon's jaw dropped. "Was I just not to par, mother?"
"You don't understand honey." A more masculine voice answered for her.
"Well hello dad. Family reunion?" I was not surprised one bit to see him too.
"Do you even want to know the truth?" He put gently. There was a narcissistic tone to it.
"I guess your the opposite of Jayden with you monologues." He ignored my comment and began to talk.
"If you did not figure it out yet, were hunters." I pretended to be surprised before putting on a poker face.
"Well that's a funny coincidence isn't it, honey?" I turned my head to look at Landon.
"It is sugar bunch." He said in the same condescending tone as mine.
"Anyways, we noticed your aging was not what it was supposed to be. You were supposed to age to be about 8 by the time you were 4. So naturally we consulted a witch we knew."
"Yes because that's what every parent does when their child has defects."
"Quit interrupting your father." My birthgiver scolded me.
"As I was saying," He cleared his throat before continuing. "She looked into your future and saw you were destined to be a mate to a werewolf."
"Like any parent, we were upset. Your hunter genes were not activated due to the fact you would be mated to what we hated." Mother dearest shook her head sadly.
"So we formed a plan. To use you as bait. We would let you get mated and then use you as a pawn to take down the pack that has been plaguing our home for centuries. We were ecstatic at the chance. So we talked to Beth. Se agreed to take you until you were almost done with junior high. Then we knew you would find him."
"So you ran off because you wanted to take down the pack?" I summarized their little speech.
"If you want to put it that way then yes." My mom rolled her eyes. "Teenagers." She giggled.
"You are crazy." I laughed at how ridiculous she is.
"Crazy hardly describes me." Her silly innocents melted away. "I've tried to be nice you brat."
"Oh there she is." I nodded my head. "Wondered when the true you would show."
"Whatever. Now we can commence with our plan." She turned on her heel and walked into the woods. I rolled my eyes. Could they be any more cliché. Pretty soon my dad followed.
"I'm sorry." Landon said in the complete silence. I suddenly got very tired. "Don't go to sleep. It can be dangerous with a concussion." My head began to hang low like I couldn't support the weight of my head. "Lila!" He called my name but it was too late. I passed before he could even thing about saying my name again.
_-_
My head shot up suddenly making me hit my skull on the tree. I groaned and allowed my eyes to reopen. It was cold with a chilly wind. It was dark except for a single torch between Landon and I.
"Landon?" I cringed at the sound of my voice. I sounded like a frog.
"Oh thank God." He looked worse than when I passed out. "I couldn't tell if you were breathing or not."
"Well I am." I didn't know what else to say. "What happened while I was out?"
"Nothing really. Some people came and took Jaydens body away talking something about resurrection. I think we haven't see the last of him." I rolled my eyes and let my head fall back. Who would've thought I'd be here right now?
"We have to escape." I tried pulling on the ropes but pangs of pain peppered all over my body. I took every fiber of my being not to cry out.
"I don't think so." Another person added to the family reunion.
"Hello Beth. Hows it hangin'?" I didn't even bother to smirk this time.
"Your awful brave acting like a brat." She mumbled. Soon a crowd of people joined. I recognized so many pack members. But for every one pack member there were at least two rogues and a hunter. My heart squeezed inside my chest.
"Alright let's get this over with." Beth pulled a random woman from the crowd of my people. I recognized her as Judith. She worked as a housekeeper at the hospital. Beth shoved her to the ground while she prayed to the moon goddess. Fire licked up my body.
"Don't!" I exclaimed in an angry growl. New feelings of power rushed threw my veins.
"Or what?" She pulled a sword with a very long blade from a belt I hadn't noticed before. "Will it hurt your feewings?" She rubbed her index finger and thumb together. This bitch was playing the words smallest violin. Then she raised her arm in the air ready to strike.
"Wait!" The blade stopped a centimeter from the side of her neck. "Take me instead." Beth smirked. My forgotten parents decided to show up.
"Want to play hero?" My father took the weapon from Beth.
"Just get over yourself." I said exhausted. "Killing me should be enough. I am the only true Luna of my pack."
"Don't be stupid-" Landon tried to say but the glare I gave him was enough to shut him up. Someone untied my ropes. I turned my head to see my long lost brother. I pulled myself off the ground and had to steady myself. I watched father drop the sword into the dirt. He looked shocked. Maybe it was the fact he had escaped the hospital. I looked to my people.
"My name is Lila Stephanie James and I am 18 years old. I am Luna of The Golden Lotus Pack. I have loved my people since I came here when I was young. Even when I caused trouble my people were brave. My people loved and adored me. I hope that my people can be brave once again." I let the tears fall down my face. I let my emotions take over. Just this last time.
"Oh honey." My mother came to me and hugged me. My skin crawled but I hugged her back. Then my father came behind her to join.
"Why can't we be a family again?" My father suggested.
"Yes." I whispered. "A family." With a single shove I was able to make the three of us fall. The blade went through my chest and right into my heart.
