Chapter 44

After the I heart to heart with Landon the day continued on like normal. Jane was MIA but that's normal now. We decided that we would strengthen the patrol to help keep the pack safe. I feel bad that these guys were risking their life even more so because of me. But they were willing to do it because I'm Luna. I can't even go out and help them. I'm just a weak human. So I signed up at the hospital for wolf medical training. And I make snacks for them at night so they can keep their energy up.

"Are you going to go to sleep or not?" Landon asked tiredly. It's midnight and I'm not even tired. 

"No go ahead and go to bed. I think I'm gonna stay up tonight." He sighed and took one step on the stairs but then stopped. 

"You know what? I will stay with you." I smiled and he walked into the kitchen with me. Owen made me some of his coffee. Maybe that's why I'm awake.

"I also got a fee board games." Owen flashed Sorry and Monopoly. I clapped my hands excitedly. He knows what I love. 

"I'm so down for this. Let me get my dark chocolate." I grabbed the games and my Ghirardelli. We went outside and I immediately shivered. For it being June it sure is chilly at night. I sat on the swing and Landon sat next to me. Owen pulled up a table and we set everything up. We chose Monopoly since it was going to be a long night. 

"So how many people are out tonight?" I asked. 

"About 8. There should be a shift change here in a few minutes." The second he said that there was shouts. I look up and saw people running from the forest. Covered in blood. Landon and I stood and Owen's jaw dropped. 

"Owen gather the pack member's to the shelter. Were under attack." I said firmly. A very naked and injured warrior ran to the porch.

"There was an attack on the side and east side." He panted. "Poison arrows came out of no where." 

"Someone knows the shift changes." I said going down the stairs to assess bis wounds. They were only surface cuts and they'd be healed within minutes. 

"We have a rat. But we'll figure that out when this is over." Landon's eyes turned green and Oliver quickly shifted into his large beautiful wolf. 

"I'm going to go to the hospital and help get the sick into safety." Oliver bowed signalling me to get on. Within seconds I was at the hospital and the second I got off he was gone again. I rushed inside and the nurse looked relived to have extra hands. I got the older people who couldn't walk very well and helped them to the basement. Thankfully we just renovated the basement so when something like this happened we could have machines down here for those that need it. When we finished getting those in the birthing ward down we shut off power to the elevator so no one could go up or down. 

"What's going on?" A scared young mother asked. She was cradling her newborn close to her face.

"I haven't heard anything yet." I gave a warm smile. "But I'm sure that when things calm down I will be contacted." Then there was a large boom that shook the ground itself. 

They had bombs set up in the top floor of the hospital. Is everyone alright?, Oliver's voice was sudden in my head.

Yes were all fine. How are things up there?, I asked anxiously. 

People are dying. It's bloody. They are targeting the younger wolves for some reason. I have to go. I love you my Luna., I quickly said it back and I was alone in my mind again.

"What was that Luna?" Janie, my favorite nurse, asked.

"They set up bombs on the top floor of the building. I suspect they don't know building dynamics." I tried to joke but little people laughed. The lights flickered and then went out for a few seconds. "Stay calm. They have things taken care of." A scream echoed the room.

"She's going into labor!" I rushed to a young woman that has been sweating profusely for hours now. Another boom shook the walls of the basement and people became even more panicked.

"Let's do this ladies." The nurses gathered around the young mother. "I know this is very un-Luna of me, but what is your name?" She laughed quickly then let out a sharp breath.

"Audrey." She pinched her eyes shut.

"Alright Audrey. Do you know the gender or is it going to be a surprise?" 

"Surprise." I saw the muscles on her stomach contract. "If it's a boy then Beau and if it's a girl then Bell. Like the princess." I patted her forehead with a towel.

"Beautiful names. Belle is the best princess. Obviously." She squeezed my hand as her muscles tightened again. 

"I can see the head!" Janie announced. 

"Your doing great." She let out a strangled cry. Then the room silenced with the sound of a baby crying. Janie cut the cord and handed me the child wrapped in a blanket. 

"Looks like you have a Beau." Janie patted her knees then a confused look crossed her face. "Also looks like you have another one coming."

"Twins?!" She gasped. I nodded and her face twisted in pain. I took her first child, Beau, so she could finish what has started. When it was over I notice that its another boy.

"What are you thinking for this one?" She opened her mouth to answer but then she let out a blood curdling scream. She grabbed at her chest like something was stabbing it.

"What's going on?" A frantic older woman asked. It looks to be Audrey's mother.

"Mate! Mate!" She screamed over and over. Her eyes shown gold. I do know what this means. Her mate has been killed in battle.

"Audrey, honey, calm down." Her mother tried to sooth her but all attempts only made it worse. We had to keep her babies away because she was becoming violent. I don't know whos messing with my pack but I will find them and ruin them.
