Lila
My eyes opened when I heard someone stumble on the stairs. The clock read 3:42 am. Then loud giggles. Landon rolled over, rubbing his eyes. I knew it wad Jane. I just knew it. I slid out of bed and put my robe on.
"I got it." I whispered to him. He sat up now fully awake.
"Are you sure?" He asked. I nodded. I opened the door and saw a guy kissing her neck. She looked strung out. She had mascara smudged around her eyes and I could smell the liquor from here. It take a lot to get a werewolf drunk.
"You need to go home." I said clearly. The boys head whipped around. He looked like a pack teen. He knew he needed to leave as well. She was drunk and easy. He was sober and horny. He turned and stomped down the stairs. She stopped giggling and turned to me.
"Whats the damage?" She slurred. I noticed a bottle of spirits in her other hand.
"Your drunk." I walked over to her and took the bottle from her. She was too smashed to try and stop me.
"I am?" She giggled again this time almost falling down the stairs. I grabbed her arm and she smacked my hand away. I tried to hide the hurt look I knew I had on my face.
"Come on let's go to your room." I tried to guide her but she smacked my hand again.
"Your such a drag. Why can't you be a normal teen and party too. Your just so uptight." She leaned on the door way to keep from falling.
"You know I don't like parties or drinking." I tried to sound teasing but she wasn't taking it.
"That's why your considered ugly. If you just opened your legs and get drunk like me you wouldn't be such a bitch." She hissed at me. "I mean seriously. You think that because you have a mate that your so cool. Well your not. Your just an ugly piece of trash and thats all you'll ever be." Her eyes fluttered. "I'm sleepy." Then before I could catch her she hit the ground.
"Hey hey." Landon finally came put of the room.
"I got her." I tried my hardest not to cry at her harsh words. He didn't argue. He just went back into our room. I picked/ dragged her into her room and put her on her bed. I peeled her dress off and put on her favorite pj's. Finally I got her some ibuprofen, water, and a banana. They help with hangovers. Then I thought last minute to drag a trash can to the side of her bed. Then I went back to bed.
"I heard that. What she said." He rubbed my shoulder. "Are you okay?"
"Honestly, Yes." This time I'm not trying to lie. "If she wants to walk all over me then that's her problem not mine."
"She doesn't know what she was saying." I rolled over to look at him.
"A part of me thinks she did."
_-_
I woke up again around 9. Landon was still with me thankfully. I hate waking up alone. I mean we have been sleeping in the same bed since I was 13."Good morning Cherry." He mumbled sleepily.
"Good morning Mr. Alpha." He rolled over so he was on top of me.
"How do it feel to be free?" He kissed all over my face and neck.
"Amazing. No more school for a year." I kissed him back. I was gonna take a year to figure out what I wanna do because I still don't know.
"I get you all for myself." He attacked me with kisses which made me squeal. I managed to fight him off so I could go to the bathroom. After I went to check on Jane. She was passed out but the banana and medicine were gone. I grabbed her glass and refilled it and out more ibuprofen in case she needed it. I've heard werewolf hangovers were pretty nasty.
After that I took a shower so I could get ready for the day. I blow dried my hair and put on a headband on so my hair would stay out my face. Then I out on a shirt, shorts, my converse, sunglasses and a hat. Today I was gardening. About a year ago Landon let me put a garden on the side of the house that needed a makeover. It had really rich soil so flowers grew very easily. Conveniently it was right under his office window.
I grabbed a bottle of pink lemonade and went to get my gardening box.
"Hey there sunshine." Zachary walked out of the garage with a smile on his face.
"Hey Zac." I smiled back. He's stuck around all these years and we still don't know why he came back. He refuses to say why the Moon Goddess sent him here. I have warmed up to him though. Landon still doesn't trust him.
"Workin on the garden today?" He he crossed his arms and leaned on the door.
"Yessir." I moved past him and walked out to my babies. He followed and kneeled a few feet away so he could help. He didn't even have to ask. He has a green thumb. "So how have you been?" I asked trying to make small talk.
"Doing the best I can." He pulled a few weeds. "Have you picked a major?"
"Not yet. I'm going to take the next year off to decide what I wanna do. Intern around you know?" He nodded and we went to a comfortable silence. After a while the sound of a branch snapping made my head turn. I stood and peered into the woods. There was another sound and I walked to the edge of the woods. I could feel someone watching me.
"Lila!" I heard Landon yell. I turned and he was hanging out his office window. I turned and came back to see what he wants.
"What!?" I yelled back.
"Come up here! I have to tell you something!" I sighed and made my way into the house. I can't have one me day.
Unknown.
I cursed myself at letting her get away. She was just arms reach and I let her get away. I could cry from the anger I feel. I tried my best to be quiet ad I left the woods. I made it back to the abandoned road and met up with the others.
"Did you get her?" My husband asked.
"I didn't even talk to her. She wad called away by that mutt." A shiver of disgust ran down my spine. "She's at a point of no return. She's against us now. She's just as bad ad them." I spat out.
"She's not one of them though. Maybe we can-" My son tried to say but my husband hushed him.
"No." My husband said firmly. "If your mother says she's too far gone then she's too far gone. She can die like the rest."
