Lila
He looked to be coming out of his sleep. His head lolled to his right should so he could look at me. He tried to smile but most of his teeth were broken. The thought of his pain made me shiver.
"Came to listen to my side?" His voice was scratchy.
"I heard from a birdy you didn't like talking." I joked lightly.
"They weren't interested in what I was saying." He coughed lightly. I noticed the jug of water in the corner. I let him drink some of it before continuing.
"So who was it that I couldn't trust?" He sighed.
"That boy." Sweat poured from his forehead. I felt his forehead and he was cold. Too cold for someone whos sweating. I felt his pulse and it was super slow but not normal.
"Do you feel alright?" He gulped and looked me in the eyes.
"I'm really hot." He looked to the the ceiling. "Can you open the window?" I looked to the window that sat at the very top of the ceiling. The cool breeze made me shiver. I knew something was wrong.
"We need to get you to a hospital." He is a least twice my size. I knew that I wouldn't be able to take him myself. I grabbed my pocket knife that I ALWAYS keep on me. I cut one of his wrists free.
"Listen to me." He grabbed my arm firmly but not enough to hurt me. I don't think he had the strength to. "You can't trust him." A tremor rocked him so hard his hand came dropped from my arm.
"Who can I not trust?" I begged him to answer. But just as I asked his eyes rolled back in his head. His started fitting and his chair fell back. I knew it was a seizure when a white foam started to come from his mouth. I didn't know what to do so I rolled him on his side so he wouldn't choke. When he the fit stopped he was completely still. I checked his pulse. Nothing. Panic. I rolled him back onto his back and tried to get as much of the foam off because he could be blocking his airway.
I started chest compressions and hoped for the best. After a few minutes I felt for a pulse again. Nothing.
Landon!, I yelled in my head.
Lila?! What's wrong?, I could feel his panic.
Its your dad. I found him. He's not breathing., Even in my own head I couldn't get the words out quick enough.
I'm sending help right now. Be careful., Then I was alone in my head again. I continued doing what I prayed was working.
"Luna?" Anthony grabbed my shoulder. I didn't realize I was crying until I looked up to him. "You can stop now." He tried to pull me away from Zach but I jerked my shoulder away.
"I can do this." I continued but his lips were turning blue from lack of oxygen. I knew he didn't have a pulse but I was to afraid to check again. "I can save him."
"Luna he's gone." He grabbed my shoulder again. "We need to go." I looked to see three other men waiting behind me. I stopped and closed his eyes. I stood up shakily and Anthony escorted me out.
"Why do you need him alive so badly." He asked me as we walked.
"He's part of the pack." I said shakily.
"Yeah but why does he absolutely need to be alive?" He pressed. I looked up to me and he was staring at me intensely.
"He's a person like everyone else." I gently took his hand from my forearm. "Why wouldn't I be upset?" He just continued walking. I stayed a safe distance and walked behind him and continued. We went all the way to the hospital again in silence. I knew that I would be scolded as soon as I got o him. I stepped into the warm hallway and was escorted by the young nurse back to his room. Before I walked in she stopped to whisper in my ear.
"Alpha Oliver has been here since you called for Landon. He's also redder than any tomato than I've ever seen." She patted my shoulder and then walked away quickly. I ran a hand down my face and opened the cracked door. And sure enough there was my green eyed mate pacing the length of the room.
"Hey!" I said unenthusiastically. "How's it goin?" The only thing I could think to do was finger guns. When the color of his face turned to resemble a fire truck I knew that something bad was coming.
"What in the absolute Hell did you think you were doing!?" He yelled while stalking towards me. "Why were you in the cells?" He was right in my face.
"Because I was on the walk and I went by the cells and saw him fallen over. So I went in there and tried to save him." He squinted his eyes and knew I was lying. But thankfully he said nothing. He knew I would tell him the truth later.
"Please don't go in there again." He grabbed me by the neck and pulled me into his chest.
"I wont." I hugged him back. Then began to cry again. "I couldn't save him." He rubbed my back silently. After all these years he still doesn't know what to do when someone is crying.
"It will be alright. He was useless anyways." I shoved him away.
"You are such an asshole." I kicked him in the shin as hard as I could the turned to walk out.
"Wait I'm sorry." He grabbed my arm and I just smacked his hand.
"That's such a crappy thing to say." I wiped my face and crossed my arms. "He was your father."
"Who tortured humans and helped the enemy. Who tried to kill you." He threw his arms in the air trying to make a point.
"But he changed Oliver." I crossed my arms due to the draft. I poked my head into the hallway to see why the door opened. A whole team of nurses and doctors were rushing someone in on a gurney. As they rushed by I joined the flock to see what was happening. It wasn't Zachary's body nor was it anyone in the pack. I could tell by the way they had their wrist tied to the rail.
"What happened?" I asked going behind the doctors. They were too busy assessing him to even hear me. I followed them to a room and the nurse was about to close the door but he saw me and let me in as well. There was enough room for me to stand in the corner. I watched as they stabilized a dirty looking body. But there were so many people I could never see the person's face. Once they had stripped the person of their clothes and hooked them up to all kinds of machines they slowly filtered out. So then I was able to approach the bed.
Then second I saw his face I knew exactly who he was.
