'Are you sure you're okay? I can stay if you want? I'll sleep on the couch. It's probably more comfortable than my hotel bed' Luke offered.

It was now almost 1:00 am and we were standing in the door opening.

'I'll be fine Luke,' I answered 'Thank you though'

Luke nodded and walked outside.

'Alright. Well then I'll see you tomorrow' He waved at me and walked to his car.

'Tomorrow?' I asked but Luke ignored me and got in his car, waving once more before driving away.

The next morning I woke up from the ringing doorbell.

I got out of bed and slowly made my way to the door, not really bothering to look in the mirror on my way there.

I opened the door to see a smiling Luke and it took me a few seconds to realize that he said he'd be back today.

'hey' he said.

'hey,' I answered 'Sorry, I kind of forgot you were going to be here again'

I stepped aside to let him in and closed the door.

'yeah, I thought so,' Luke smiled. 'Just go change I'll wait here'

I nodded, apologizing again before running up stairs.

I quickly changed in an old pair of jeans and a t-shirt with a smiley on it. Then I brushed my hair and put some make-up on and went back downstairs.

'That was fast' Luke said when I sat down on the couch beside him.

'I know, my mom sometimes forced me to be dressed and completely ready within 10 minutes because she didn't want to wait longer. We always ate breakfast together.'

Luke grinned.

'Speaking of breakfast. Shall we go eat somewhere?' he asked.

I nodded and stood up, grabbing my keys and bag again and following Luke to his car.

We ate breakfast in a little restaurant close to my house and we went for another drive afterwards.

'So, I have a question' Luke said.

'And what's that question?' I answered.

'Well, we're going on a boat, and I just...I was wondering, since you had never been outside, if your parents did teach you how to swim' he asked nervously.

'They didn't teach me that, no' I smiled 'Why? Do we have to go in the water?'

'No, we don't have to. But we can if we want to'

The drive was short and we could get on the boat immediately.

'but, what if I fall in?' I asked once I took a look at the water underneath us.

Luke smiled. 'there's no way you can fall in, don't worry.'

'But what if I do?'

'If you do, I'll jump in and save you'

I nodded, but I couldn't help feeling more nervous with the minute.

'Promise?' I asked quietly.

'I promise. Let's go sit down.' Luke said.

We walked to the seats and sat down.

The boat slowly started moving and after half an hour I finally felt safe enough to stand up.

Luke made me walk up and down the deck, slowly leading us closer to the edge.

I pretended I didn't notice and followed him. Pushing all of my thoughts aside and focusing on the conversation we had.

'Remember when we went to the zoo yesterday and we searched for dolphins but they ended up not being there?' Luke asked.

'Yes, I remember that'

'Well, last night I was thinking about that and I realized I really want to see them, that's why we're here.' He explained.

'To see dolphins?' I asked, just to be sure.

'Jup' Luke answered. He stopped walking and looked to his right.

I followed his gaze.

By now we were standing at the edge and all I could see was the water.

'All they have to do is show up now' Luke mumbled, and with that I saw something moving in the water.

'think I saw something' I said, not removing my eyes from the spot.

'where?' Luke asked. I pointed a little to my left.

'right there. I saw something moving'

Luke followed my finger to the water. We both stared at it for a bit before I saw it again.

'There! Did you see it?' I said, getting really excited.

'No! I just looked away! Where was it?'

'right there!' I pointed to almost the same spot as I did a few minutes ago.

I pulled him a little bit closer so he could see it better. Since he was practically standing behind me and couldn't really see much.

'I think I saw it' Luke said after another 5 minutes past.

'Yeah?' I asked.

'I did! There's more over there' Luke excitedly pointed to his right.

The dolphins stayed for a little while longer before disappearing and we spent the rest of the time staring at an empty ocean...well...the ocean is never empty...we just didn't see anything anymore after that.
