They sat through the speeches and the cake then a little while later Fletch found them a nice corner to hide in for the disco. Clearly not hidden well enough as Johnny's mum came over
"Oh great" Jac said under her breath
"Jaqueline"
"Mrs Maconie"
"And who's this?" She gestured to Fletch
He stood up smiling and extended his hand
"Mrs Maconie, Adrian Fletcher. It is a pleasure to meet you" he shook her hand warmly and the older woman visibly softened
Jac rolled her eyes. Only Fletch could charm that old witch
"And you're here with Jacqueline"
Fletch smiled at Jac
"Yes I am"
"Oh well, I hope you're ready to take on this callous harlot"
Jac suppressed a giggle
"I think I'll be fine Mrs Maconie"
She huffed and turned on her heel
"Callous harlot eh? I like it"
Jac rolled her eyes again
"When can we get out of here. Emma doesn't seem to be flagging at all yet"
"Why don't you go for a lie down babe"
"And give him and your new best friend the satisfaction"
"Whoa ok ok. I was only trying to think of you"
She glared at him. Shit. He didn't deserve this. Hormones were making her more of a bitch than usual.
"Sorry" she said curtly "you might wanna steer clear of me over the next few hormone filled months"
"What and miss out on all the pregnancy sex"
Jac absolutely burst out laughing, she couldn't help it. Her laughter set Fletch off and soon they were helpless. Holding onto each other and trying to breath
"Sorry to interrupt and everything but your daughter is tired"
Johnny stood holding Emma's hand
"Oh hi" Jac managed "you ready for bed baby?"
Emma smiled "what are you laughing at mummy. Is Fletch being silly again?"
"Yes darling Fletch is being silly again"
"Come here scamp" Fletch said holding out his arms. She crawled onto his lap and Jac caught the look on Johnny's face and challenged him with her eyes to dare make a comment
"Right, I'll see you at breakfast princess" Johnny stated and left
"Come on let's get my two favourite sleepy girls to bed"
Emma let Fletch carry her to the room and she barely woke as Jac helped her brush her teeth and get into pyjamas
"Well that could have been a lot worse and the good news is you don't have to invite him to our wedding because there are lots of people around who would love to keep an eye on mini Naylor"
"Mummy are you and Fletch getting married?" Said a very very sleepy Emma
"Ssh now. Sleep time" soothed Jac stroking her hair
This little girl is going to experience a lot of change over the next few months thought Jac but as she looked at Fletch kicking his shoes off and loosening his tie, she knew that with his help Emma would be absolutely fine.
He smiled over at her at that moment and Jac smiled back struggling to comprehend how much he'd changed her life. Yes Emma was going to be fine
