For the first time since Luc was born Jac slept soundly through the night. Fletch was happy to get up and feed and change his son and happier still to see Jac's exhausted sleeping form next to him as he carefully climbed back into bed in the early hours of the morning
He felt Jac stirring next to him at around 6.30
"Is he ok?" Asked Jac as soon as she opened her eyes
"He's been absolutely fine. We've had some Daddy and son time. I've told him all about West Ham whom he will be supporting and Spurs whom he will not. He's had all the milk you expressed and has produced 2 impressive nappies. He's sleeping like the proverbial baby and you need to go back to sleep whilst I get breakfast sorted for everybody. I'll bring tea up in a moment" he leaned over and kissed her cheek
"You sure you winded him properly and put him to sleep on his back and ..."
"Jac" he interrupted "as you often point out this is not my first rodeo. Please trust me"
"Sorry" she said sheepishly "of course I trust you"
Jac didn't fall back to sleep but lay there content to listen to Luc's steady breathing. A little while after, Emma came in, very carefully carrying a cup of tea
"Thank you baby" said Jac placing the mug on the bedside table
"Fletch sent me up with it"
Jac smiled to herself - course he did
"Have you got a cuddle for Mummy?"
Emma nodded and climbed up onto the bed, wrapping her arms round Jac's neck
Jac stroked her hair gently "love you baby"
"As much as you love Luc?"
"Of course you are both my babies I love you the same"
"You've been spending all your time with him"
Jac felt a gut wrenching guilt
"It's just cos he's little. You're my big girl now but Fletch looked after him all night so I think you could start to help too, and the others and then I wouldn't have to spend all my time with him. How does that sound?"
Emma considered the proposition
"OK but I'm not helping anybody to change pooey nappies"
Jac laughed and held her daughter tighter "they are pretty yuck but then so were yours"
"Mummy!" Emma said indignantly
"You'd better go baby. I think uncle Sacha is coming to take you to school"
"Bye mummy" she kissed Jac and then looked into the Moses basket at her sleeping brother
"Bye bye Luc"
After everyone had left, Fletch came back up with toast
"Alright?" He asked
"Yes. My five year old has just talked some sense into me"
"Oh?" He said taking a bite of her toast
"Hey stop stealing my food, you always did that with grapes.Anyway she asked me if I loved her as much as I loved Luc because I spent all my time with him"
"Ouch"
"Well exactly. I reassured her and told her she needed to help us look after him"
"Us?"
"Yes Fletch us, although she draws the line at helping with pooey nappies"
"Damn it" Fletch grinned "will you please talk to me if you start feeling that only you can care for him"
"I will. So you'll keep an eye on him whilst I go in the shower"
"Do you really have to ask?"
"It was a statement not a question Fletcher"
"That's the Jac I know and love"
"Hmm. Just don't be buying me funeral flowers any time soon" she teased reminding him of the last time he'd said that to her
Fletch groaned "I didn't know did I. You're never going to let me forget that are you?"
"Nope" she said and bopped him on the nose as she walked past to the bathroom
