Part 28: Hospital

Aaron hears sirens. He doesn't hear screaming anymore. The sound of paramedics talking fill his ears. The sound of Roni begging to ride in the ambulance with Andrew, Aaron, or Luke but they make her ride in her own. She She doesn't even realize that she's hurt. All the adrenaline is masking the pain. Aaron doesn't feel like his hurt, it's just adrenaline pumping. He knows it's going to hurt like hell when his heart stops beating out of his chest. Kian rides in the ambulance with him. He's never seen Kian as nervous as this. He's tapping his foot and putting his head in his hands. He wants to tell him that it's going to be ok. Before he knows it, there are paramedics putting a gas mask on him and taking him to emergency surgery. That's all he remembers until he blacks out.

Roni watches as Andrew is carried away from her arms and put into the ambulance. She wants to cry but she doesn't hav any tears left. Alex rides in the ambulance with him. He holds Andrews small hand and strokes it. For the first time in a long time, Alex prays. He prays over Andrews life. As tears fall down his face, he prays like he's never prayed before.

Luke is carried away in an ambulance. He's not even close to worried about his leg. He's worried about Mariah. He's in a full consciousness state and like everyone else he doesn't feel a thing. It's the adrenaline. It's something about it. It something about being in that serine state of mind. It makes you think about life. Gray talks to him the whole time to make sure he's ok. Luke reassures him that he's fine for right now and he's not focused on the pain. When they hit a speed bump then the pain starts coming in. It's almost like he was shot again. He grips the side of the bed in the ambulance. He lays his head back and just thinks.

Nessa rides in the ambulance with Roni. She's crying and worried. She doesn't want to lose anymore family. She knows that the wound isn't bad and it's just in her arm but she's still hurt. Nessa is completely shaken up. She has no idea what's going on. One second they were worried about files of workers the next moment they're worried about who's going to live. She grabs Roni's hand on the side that's not injured. The put their heads together and it calms them both down. It's a twin thing.

Andrew is confused. He remembers a sharp pain and Roni holding him tightly. He remembers her telling him that she loves him. He remembers seeing Aaron and hearing him breathing. He remembers Roni screaming and the sound of the bullets. He remembers getting in the ambulance but those are only snippets of moments. He doesn't feel anything. He just feels like he's sleepy. The sound of the sirens send him to sleep as he closes his eyes.

Lauren, E, and James ride in the police car all the way to the hospital. They're shaken up even though they weren't hurt. The sit on the car in silence as their bodies are being jiggled around. The turns are sharp and the whole street clears out for the car as the sirens ring. They speed down the road and leaves other police behind searching for the criminals on the scene.

Mariah was escorted by the ambulance. She gets asked a million questions. She doesn't give them a straight answer to any of them because she's in pain and confused. She gets taken to a hospital room and they examine her as they help deliver the baby. Finally she gets to see her little angels face.

"Congratulations it's a girl!" The nurse says. Mariah smiles and wipes away her tears. As the nurse cleans the baby up she wants to ask can she call her family. Before she gets to ask the nurse if she can use the phone, another nurse comes in and seems frantic.

"There's been a shooting. Four wounded, two of those are in critical condition. Seven kids are with them. They're mildly wounded. We need all hands on deck. We've got the police coming in!" She practically yells. The nurse runs out. Mariah heard lots of footsteps running outside of the door.

"Go! Go! Go!" Someone yells

"We've got news on one of the names. Its Veronica!" Someone else yells. Mariah eyes open wide and she hopes that it's not what she thinks it is. She rocks her and her new baby in the bed. She thinks about what one of the nurses said. Four people shot. Seven others with them. Seven plus four equals eleven. That's one off from how many people left. She puts the clues together. She couldn't find Andrew. Andrew probably snuck out with them. Four people were shot including Roni. She eliminates Roni from the eleven and thinks about who else could have been shot. She prays and prays that everyone is ok even though they said two were in critical condition. The bang starts crying. Mariah looks at her and calms her down. She kisses her forehead. Her little face is soothing to Mariah. Mariah watches as she falls asleep. Mariah falls asleep right with her. She's awaken by a knock on her door.
