"Mom hasn't been home in awhile, not that that's anything new. I just thought that while all this is going on she would stay home. It would make her act look more realistic" Nessa says
"Well, it looks like she's a bad actor" Roni says an makes Nessa laughs both of them are working on their posters for Kian and Aaron's game. Everyone's making posters, since the team did so well last time. Everyone's coming to the game. They want to see what the hype is all about. It puts more pressure on the players, but the most popular or the players that try to be popular, love it.
Aaron and Kian show up to warm ups focused. They both start to get themselves in the right mindset. Aaron tells everyone what positions that they need to play.
"I assigned you these spots, bu if you need to step out of these to score a point you can. Just make sure you have at least one or two people nods of approval." Aaron says. They go to the locker room. They can hear as people enter. They hype each other up and get ready for the game. They get in their circle an wrap their arms around each other shoulders. They each say what their goals are for this game. When they all finish they put all their hands in and do their cheer. They walk out and the crowd cheers. Both of the teams are out and the timer starts. Aaron makes the first layup. That's when the game really starts. The other team puts their game faces on. They wipe off their sneakers with their hands. Aaron dribbles the ball down the court. He passes it to Kian, who's closest to the hoop. He makes it and the crowd cheers. 3 more points on the board. The cheerleaders roar when they make a point and when they don't, they sing the defense song. Mariah stands high with her poster that she made, Alex is acting like he's a coach, Roni cheers and decides what plays they should make in her head, Nessa just cheers when the crowd does because she doesn't know basketball. Roni watches or when she and Aaron study they use basketball as an analogy. She's knows all about the game now. Nessa picks up a few points while the game is going on. Andrew loves watching his brothers play. They're like his hero. He calls Kian his brother and so do the rest of the Burris family.
The coach calls a time out. The team rushes over.
"Jake, you gotta stop showing off. You're costing us points. You missed a half court shot. You could have easily just passed the ball to Jonathan and he could have made it" The coach argues.
"Sorry coach" Jake looks down obviously embarrassed. The whistle blows and the game starts again. It's the other teams ball. One of the player go to make a shot, but Kian jumps up and blocks it. It's their ball now. He passes it to Jake. Jake must have not have learned anything for the timeout, because he goes to dunk. He missed it by a long shot and cane down on his ankle. Hard. His teammates rush over.
"You good Jake?"
"Everyone scoot back, the medics are coming through" Kian says. Everyone backs up as the nurse does a quick bandage and and puts ice on it. She rolls him out in a wheelchair.
"He's ankle is definitely going to hurt in the morning" Aaron says in the minutes of the time out they have left.
"Yeah, and is his ego" Jonathan says. He was clearly not the happiest about Jake not passing him the ball. The boys shift their focus back to the game. The other team seems to be making fun of them because they're player got hurt because he was trying to show off. This kinda upset Aaron. He sets him self farther away from the hoop. He signals for Kian to pass him the ball. He gets as a player from the other team tries to steal it from him. Aaron tricks him out and he crosses him over. He hears someone from the crowd yell "He broke his ankles!" Aaron's not finish yet. As he gets to the goal, he seems to be making a path by all the people he dodges. He doesn't lose stamina. He can't lose stamina or this won't work. As he keeps running he gets closer to the hoop. He takes a leap and he feels and hears the net swoosh as his hand hits the rim. His feet hit the floor as the crowd roars. He knew that by the time he did that the buzzer would ring and the game would be over. It was a win for them.
