((nothing to do with the chapter just wanted to show off this beautiful man 😍))

Audrey's POV

After hearing him explain to me everything that just mounted on his shoulders. The physical change is extreme the corners of lips started to crack and his eyes are still red. The urge to hold him is tempting inside of me and I can't. At least not until he makes the first move. He was convinced I was using him and I'm sure he still holds a grudge against me.

"So what will you do? Are you going to try and find out who your real dad is?'' My voice comes out low because I fear that if I spoke any louder I would break him even more. He looked down at his food for a while and shrugged. "Maybe it's better to leave things how they are, I mean he left for a reason.''

''Yeah but I need to know. I feel so stupid for not noticing the difference. Compared to my family I was always the different looking one.'' He lifted his hands and stared at them for a while. His fingers wiggled around and he huffed. "I was always the palest. I always felt out of place but I never thought much about it. You've seen my dad right? He's a little tanner than me and so are my brothers-''

''Yeah but your mom is pretty pale too.''

''And that's where I think I got it from but now it just makes even more sense.''

I could hear the honks from outside grow louder and in a way that was a sign that the tension was slowly fading. ''So are you going to march back to your mom and demand she tells you?''

He shakes his head, ''No because I know she won't say anything. But maybe it's for the best that I don't find out, but I kind of want to know. Fuck I hate my life right now.''

''Maybe you could get a private investigator and see where things go.'' After I said that he shot is head up. He stared at me for a while and I just stared back confused on how to act.

''I- I need to tell you something.''

I nodded my head pushing the empty plate so my elbows could rest on the table. "What is it?''

''Before I came here I- uhm realized something. I realized that maybe perhaps I was overreacting. About the whole gold digger thing. I never truly believed it and I still don't, but I guess I just wanted an explanation. Peyton told you to get away from me didn't she?''

''I didn't want to get away from you and make you feel like I used you. But that was the only compromise, so she would get you out of there.''

''I guess I should have known to trust you more. I was stupid to even consider you a gold digger, especially after you wanted to buy a dress on clearance because it would be cheaper.'' He laughed and I'm so happy a boy thinks I'm cheap.

''But I guess in a way I was taking advantage of everything you have done for me. The car especially, I don't know how I could ever repay you.'' My mom still argues with me every day to give it back and I want to but that car has become a symbol.

''I don't expect you to pay me back, I just ask that maybe we forgot all that old shit and give this a try.''

''I'm sorry, but give what a try.''

''Give us a try without a contract.'' His eyes look droopy and the freckles on his face appear colorless fading away once again like the noises around us. I have looked at Ricky many times, but it wasn't until now that I saw genuine care for me. His eyes finally match mine.

''What about Peyton?'' I ask him drowning my faith with the idea of that stuck up actress meddling her way back. She can and she will.

''I would say don't worry about it, but knowing her we should worry about it. I just don't know how to tell her little damn mind to leave me alone.''
