Audrey's POV
"Wait so how did it go yesterday for him? Did he tell you anything?" I stumble to sit down on Jos bed. We were just done with dinner and Emery's call caught be by surprise.
We were 3 days into Thanksgiving break and Emery just gave me the best news!
"Well its Ricky, he didnt say much but he did bring home a journal. It was just his first session."
"How did you manage to convince him!" I felt so overwhelmed with the thought he was finally getting help. Jos pokes her head through the doorway before walking in.
"Well it was kinda forced. Stephen and his mom came over."
Jos walks over and places her ear beside my phone.
"Oh I see well at least the first step was taken right! Please keep me updated Emmy."
"Yeah sure but why don't you call him yourself. I sure he'd love to hear from you."
Jocelyn nods and whispers "do it".
"Didn't he go back with Peyton? He doesn't even miss me." I say and Jos throws her neck back.
"Yeah I don't know what that was about. But he hasn't seen her since. Not going to force you but you both would benefit from hearing from eachother."
I stay silent for a while pondering on his words. "I'll think about it okay."
"Okay and sorry I can't stay and chat but I have to go."
"No it's fine, thanks for the call Emery."
He hanged up and I dropped the phone on my lap. My cheeks were starting to hurt from all the smiling I was doing.
"What he'd say? Before I came in?"
"Ricky is finally going to counseling and appearantly so is Sam back in Texas!"
"That's awesome! Now he will be more comprehensive when you call him." Her right eyebrows raises just an inch as her eyes went back and forth between my phone and me.
"Okay if I do call him what am I suppose to say huh? I can't be like 'hey I'm sorry but I made a mistake and I'm happy you're finally getting help' ."
"Yes! Except for the second part I don't think he knows we know. But yes to the rest! Dang it Audrey just admit you were wrong."
"Maybe he doesn't need me anymore. Think about it, I've been asking for him to get help for months and he never did it. Now I'm gone and he finally did. Maybe it's better for him like this." I reach for my phone and place it behind me so Jos stops staring at it.
"Audrey you're talking as if you were toxic to him. Friendly reminder thanks to him you were able to finally feel confident enough, beautiful enough to take off that white shirt. You helped him through the whole dealio with his family. He was with you and helped find your family. Stop being stubborn."
Her eyes pleaded for me to call him. Unconsciously I had reached for my phone. She was right and I had to admit I was wrong. I thought we'd be better of separated but the repercussions said other wise.
"Okay lets do it." I dial his number and next to Jos I want for the ringing to stop and hear his voice.
It ringed and it ringed and finally I was sent to voice-mail.
I hanged up and perked up a smile towards my friend. Her mouth wide open.
"See he's moved on. I'm going to head home now." I get up and tuck my phone away. I didnt want to see it.
