The house of cards fell over.
Leaving a ripped Ace card behind on a chessboard.
"Hyung.."
"Jungkook, are you okay?" Namjoon asked solemnly, with the rest of us behind him as his phone laid on the table on speaker. Tension filling the room as this is the first sign of life from Jungkook after two weeks of painful nothingness. Two weeks since the failed mission where both Jungkook and [Y/n] disappeared. Two weeks filled with news of the great Ace's death was all the underground kept talking about.
"She's dead Hyung, I-I couldn't stop it. I couldn't, I couldn't save her Hyung, and now she's-" Jungkook's voice kept cracking and breaking with every word, as he tried to speak through hyperventilation. The line crackled for a moment before another, unfamiliar voice spoke after Jungkook.
"I suggest you hurry unless your gang can stand to lose another member. We'll send you the address, come together unarmed. You have 48 hours before when send you your member back in a body bag." That's all the other voice demanded before hanging up.
I looked around at the other member's trying to read their faces. While some member's expression gave them away, there were other member's I struggled to tell what they were thinking. I've known my brothers for years, but in this moment, it's almost as if none of us know what to do, say, or feel.
Jin spoke up first, "Namjoon, what's our move." Stepping up to where Namjoon was standing with his arms propped onto the table with his head down. With no immediate or delayed answer, Jin unclenched his white knuckles and rest a hand onto Namjoon's hunched over back. "Namjoon-"
Besides Yoongi, all of us flinched as Namjoon threw his phone, denting the wall as pent up rage was starting to seethe off of him. Struggling to gain his composure, Namjoon stood up straight to announce, "We go get Jungkook back, no matter what."
"What about [Y/n], Hyung?" Jimin spoke up with a clear tremor in his voice. "What are we suppose to do now that she's dead?" His figure shaking with anger as he tried to hold himself together.
Holding his face in his hand for a moment, Namjoon let out a ragged exhale as he shakily comb his hair back with his fingers. "We move on, if she's really gone, then we'll mourn her after we get Jungkook back."
"Can you at least make it sound like she was a person, or at least pretend like you care she's gone." With every word I could see Jimin begin to unravel from the emotions that kept escaping the bottle. I reached out to grab Jimin's hand, only for him to jerk away from me as he raised his voice into a yell, "Can you Hyung?!"
As Jimin raised his voice, I gently pulled on his sleeve, trying to take him off they same edge we all were on. Before another member lashed out at Jimin or at Namjoon, the last thing we needed was all of us collectively loosing our control but it really was hard to breathe with barbwire tightening around all of our lungs.
Cuffing my hand along Jimin's upper arm, in attempt to use physical contact as a distraction. Which backfired as it only set Jimin off more as he rip his arm away from me, without ever taking his eyes off Namjoon.
"[Y/n] knew her own limits and risks, she knew the consequences. Don't belittle her like she was some incompetent idiot who didn't know what she was getting into." Namjoon told Jimin off as he was barely containing his composure now, visualized by the way he kept clenching his jaw. As if it were a physical restraint to hold Namjoon back from saying any rage induced harm.
Jimin took a furious step towards Namjoon. Before I could make another attempt to stop him or hold him back, Jin stepped in. Standing between Jimin and Namjoon as he reasoned with the emotionally fueled member, "Jimin, stop. We're all affected by it, okay? But we have another member that's alive, Jungkook's our only priority right now. Once he safe, we can mourn, we can avenge, but right now we can't do anything. [Y/n] is dead, the only thing we could do is accept she's gone," Jin paused himself as he felt his throat choke up at his own words, "You know Namjoon's not trying to play the bad leader for his own benefit."
