Chapter 20

Peeta's POV

"Oof." I exclaim as something bashes into my leg. I stop my dough kneading and look down.
I smile when I see my daughter giggling as she holds onto my leg.
I bend down and take her from my leg.

"Hello Willow!" I greet and give her a huge hug. I hug her tight, slightly squeezing her but making sure she won't get hurt.

"Daddy you're squeezing me!" Willow alerts me but I ignore it.
I squeeze slightly tighter.

"Daddy!" Willow happily whines and starts laughing.
"Let me go daddy!" Willow exclaims and smacks her hands on my back.

I see Katniss come into the bakery kitchen and see her smile.
"Let me go!" Willow repeats.

"Not until I get a kiss from my baby girl." I answer and I feel Willow place a kiss on my cheek.

I loosen my grasp and carefully place her on my feet.

"Ooohhh!" Willow exclaims and runs over to a new batch of cupcakes laid out on one of the benches.

"Careful Will. No eating." Katniss alerts her with her other nickname and I turn to see her coming towards me.

"Hey." I quietly greet my wife.

"Hi." she replies and we share a quick kiss. When we separate I smile.

"Came to see me?" I ask and Katniss nods.

"Just stopping by on our way to the Hob." Katniss adds and I nod.

"You okay? You weren't feeling the greatest this morning." I ask and Katniss murmurs a yes.
"Okay." I reply.

"Daddy!" I hear Willow shout and I turn to her.

"Yes Willow?" I reply nearly as loud as her, making Willow laugh. I chuckle before I walk over to her.

"Can I have these for my birthday?" She asks and points to a pink iced cupcake.

"Sure sweetie." I answer and she jumps up and down in joy.

"Mummy! Mummy! Mummy! Daddy said he is going to make me cupcakes for my birthday!" Willow runs to Katniss and jumps up and down in front of her.

"I heard. Willow you can calm down now." She says, kneeling down. I smile.

My Willow Mellark is an amazing daughter. Very caring like me and is very talkative. Ever since she could speak sentences, she has talked non stop.

It's going to be hard on Katniss and I in a few months as Willow's 5th birthday comes rolling in. Especially Katniss. Willow will be starting school the week after her birthday. Katniss has been with Willow every minute since the day she found out she was expecting her, looking after her. I don't know how she'll let it happen. Neither do I.

"Well, we need to get to the Hob don't we Willow?" Katniss says, taking me out of my thoughts, and Willow nods.

Willow runs up to me and I bend down to embrace her in a hug.
"Bye Daddy!" Willow farewells and I return it. I release her and stand up.

I walk back over to my wife.
"See you later." She says and we share another short passionate kiss.

We separate and Katniss grabs Willow's hand and they make their way out.
Willow waves me goodbye and I get back to work when I hear the bell over the main door sound.
