"Life happens when you're busy making other plans."

[Tzuyu's POV]

Whenever life threw me a lemon, why did it always sting my eyes. This would be the trillionth time I put 'my life sucks' on a loop in my head. For instance, now, I was seated awkwardly across from a man I've known less than a minute. What was his name again?

"You okay?" He asked me, whilst my eyes were wondering around, making contact with everything but him. Why was I so nervous?

"Hmm?"

The man rubbed his nape, while staring down at his lap. "I mean, if you're uncomfortable then..."

Out of nowhere, I blurted out, "it's fine. I'm fine. Let's only work." I then went back to the piece of notebook paper on the table, trying to ease my mind on any necessary decorations that we might need for a surprise party.

So far we had three things: banners, balloons, and streamers. What else? I sat in thought, contemplating from what I've seen at the parties of my father's business partners. Think, think, think.

"What about centerpieces?"

Exactly what I was thinking, although I didn't know why I tried to remember it in Korean. Confused on the spelling, I gave up and wrote in Mandarin. Just as I was finished writing it out, the man swung his head over, trying to catch my writing. He then looked up and gave me an impressed expression.

"For a second, I thought you were a part of their Japanese line up," he suddenly spoke, sounding a bit shocked. He then added, "how come you never came around?"

From my basic understanding of the language, I'd believe he asked me what I was doing here, and truth be told, I had practically asked myself the same question whenever put in an uncomfortable situation.

"I actually just moved here from Taiwan. I wanted to change things up in my life," I said, while trying to avoid being bombarded with questions once again for the second or third time.

The man nodded slowly before his gaze went over to mine. Again, I immediately tore my gaze on him and returned my eyes to the paper. How I wish Su-Wei was here...

"Well, I'm Kim Taehyung," he cracked a smile, which was pleasing somehow. So pleasing, I didn't realize I was unconsciously smiling until my cheeks starting hurting a bit.

Time went on for about a while and my eyes were growing more and more tired by the second. I forced myself to stay awake a bit longer by continuing to review all what we had so far. We had banners, balloons, streamers, centerpieces, confetti, wall decor, party hats and blowers. This seemed about every possible thing we could think of.

Sana initially started to check off our progress by coming to check on each group individually to see what all we had.

Eventually Sana decided to call it a day, with Seokjin complaining about the hours of beauty sleep he would miss if he were endure another minute past his 'bedtime'.

After we all bid our goodbyes, Nayeon eagerly shut the door behind them, rolling her eyes once she turned around. "I seriously hate that Kim Seokjin guy. Why do we even bother with him?" asked Nayeon while folding her arms together.

"Because..." Dahyun continued while eyeing Sana and Mina, "Sana is dating his friend, and Mina might have a-"

Mina shot Dahyun with dagger eyes as she mouthed to her something inaudible. Was it something she didn't want me to hear? Or was she too embarrassed to admit? Either way, she ended up leaving towards the rooms, leaving only us in the living room.
