From Rags To Riches: Chapter Seventy

"JESSIE, RALPH THERE'S BEEN NEWS ON THE THEFT!" Anna's voice declared as she burst open the doors leading into the home with Ralph and Jessie looking over with some shock before they quickly began to head outside- with Anna soon adding.

"What's the news? WHATS THE NEWS?!" And with this Ralph's mother motioned for everyone to be quiet it seemed, as she shook her head and said.

"Yeah?..uh huh....okay, okay thank you so much!" And with this, she hung her cell phone up, as everyone looked over at her with some concern and excitement it seemed, while Ralph's mother shook her head as she added.

"They have enough evidence to prove it wasn't either of you, the investigators that were hired say it's an open and shut case! when the trial comes, you're all going to be just fine!" And with this Anna screamed with delight as she began to jump up and down as did Ralph, all the while Melanie appeared to be thinking to herself a bit; with Jasmine looking over at her, as she spoke out.

"What's wrong Melanie?" And with this Melanie shook her head, as she added.

"I thought for sure that was the "we got the thief" call ...I mean don't get me wrong I'm glad they have a lot of evidence to prove it wasn't either of us..but that begs the question, who was it?" And with this Jessie shook her head; as she added.

"Who cares!?... if the evidence points to neither of you doing it, that's a GOOD thing, Melanie!" And with this Melanie shook her head as she added.

"I know it is, but it can also be a BAD thing .." And with this Anna and Ralph looked over letting go of each other (having begun jumping up and down while hugging each other with excitement)

"...How?"

"...Look I don't mean to bring down everyone's mood or anything, but last time Ralph got arrested just because the police had enough evidence to link the fact I had a partner in the crime I committed even though I didn't .. I mean they can have a lot of evidence that proves neither of us did it, but if the police don't have a suspect and the three of us were the last ones to deal with anything nearby the theft, what if they just arrest us and put us away because they think it's us?" Melanie questioned, as everyone exchanged looks- before Anna shook her head, as she added.

"Congrats, you just brought everyone down." And with this, she shook her head, as she began to leave the area; with Melanie shaking her head, as she added.

"I'm not saying NOT to be happy about this, all I'm saying is ...we need to be READY for what the police may throw at us." And with this everyone else began to leave the area, as Melanie sighed and shook her head while her sister looked over; and soon spoke out.
