From Rags To Riches: Chapter Twenty-Two

"...Hey sis.." Matthew spoke out trying to break the silence that Anna and Jessie were giving not knowing what to say, before Anna soon shook her head under her breath, as she could almost feel like a cold chill going down her spine from seeing the brother she fought a lot growing up, but she struggled and took a moment to breath finally managing to speak out she said.

"What are you doing here Matt?" And with this she took a moment to step off to the side allowing for Matthew to enter into the area, while Jessie appeared nervous not knowing what Matthew was going to say; all the while Matthew appeared to hesitate himself tossing his bag off to the side and sitting down on the couch taking a moment to deeply sigh to himself, he said.

"Family's forever right?... I wanted to come and check in." And with this Anna gave a bit of a confused look, before she began to come over towards him as she spoke out.

"What?..why after so long do you want to check in?" And with this, she exchanged looks with Jessie, who soon spoke out.

"Can I get you something to drink or so-something?"

"Sure, hot coco would be good.." Matthew spoke out, as Jessie shook her head and quickly disappeared behind the door leading into the kitchen, while Anna looked at him with a bit of an angered and confused look; as she soon spoke out.

"You didn't answer me, why do you all of a sudden want to check in- and how on EARTH do you know where I am living!?"

"....I looked up your address in the phone book, I know your marriage basically fell apart thanks to Jessie." He spoke out, as Jessie came into view entering into the area holding a cup of coco; as she appeared shocked looking over towards Anna who looked over at her with a shocked and betrayed looking expression.

"..She gave me a call and said she thought we should talk, I didn't really know about it ..but I took some time to think it over and I realized she was right..family is forever and we should talk." Matthew said as Jessie came over and handed him the cup of coco, before he began to drink it; as Anna sighed and crossed her arms.

"I don't really think there is anything to talk about Matthew, so why not just go?" She remarked as Jessie grabbed Anna's shoulder giving her a look, Anna rolled her eyes and shook her head.

"Fine, I'll talk." She muttered, as she came over and sat down beside Matthew with a bit of a sigh she soon said.

"So am I to expect mom to come over too?" And with this Matthew shook his head, lowering his eyes a bit he soon spoke out.

"..Mom's dead sis." And with this Anna's eyes shrunk.
