When we arrived at the house, I didn't bother taking my suitcases out. Apparently, we had taken the long way home to avoid where Ava crashed. They talked to me about it and what happened.
Two guys, both 24 years old, went to the bar and obviously had a little too much to drink. They decided it'd be okay to just drive home since it wasn't that far. They weren't paying any attention to their speed and they were going pretty fast. They ran a red light and hit straight into Ava. Her car rolled and she died of head injury. They both got arrested.
They didn't go into details. I couldn't handle it.
I got out and began walking to the door.
"Want your suitcases?" My dad asked.
"Not now." I said. He grabbed them anyways.
My mom unlocked the front door for me.
I walked inside and looked at the kitchen. Nothing was ever going to be the same.
"I'm going to try to take a nap." I said.
"Okay." She rubbed my shoulder.
I walked past her and down the stairs. When I entered my room, I immediately put my phone on the charger and layed on my bed. I wasn't intending to fall asleep, but I guess I did, because I woke up 3 hours later to the sound of a blender upstairs. I checked my phone.
2 missed calls from Jack J.
2 missed calls from Jack, and a voicemail. Without listening to it, I went upstairs to see what was going on.
"Hey Paige do you want some of my vanilla-strawberry smoothie thing? It's too much for me to drink by myself." My mom said, pouring some into a glass.
"Yeah." I answered. She poured me a glass and handed it to me.
"It smells yummy." I said.
"Oh my." She said, sipping hers.
"This is really good." I smiled, doing the same.
"I'm going to the gym after dinner if you want to come?"
I thought about it for a moment. Maybe it was just what I needed.
"Yeah." I smiled. "Sure."
"Okay!" I'll be out back with dad. She left the kitchen and went out the back door.
I went back downstairs with my smoothie and got on my phone. I saw a text from Nash.
N: Call me.
I dialed his number.
"Hey." He answered.
"Hi." I said.
"Are you doing okay?" He asked me.
I became confused. "Me? What about you?"
He sighed. "Its hard.. I mean I feel like it's all just a big joke. This was so random and.. Scary. I hate it. I was freaking out when you told me. I'm sorry I hung up. I don't even want to talk about it."
"It's fine. I get it. We don't have to talk about it. I'm uh, I'm actually back home now, I'm not even going to be on the tour."
"Because of Ava?"
"No. That wasn't even going to be the plan. I um, I heard jack on the phone with some girl. He was planning to hook up with her or something." I felt embarrassed explaining that.
"What the hell? Are you serious?"
"Yeah.."
"That really doesn't sound like Jack."
"I've heard that already."
"I don't even know what to say. That's disappointing Paige. You deserve a lot better than that, you know that right?"
"That's why I left."
We continued our conversation, which surprisingly lasted for about 10 minutes. Nash and Cameron are such great friends. I don't even know what I'd do without those guys.
I put my phone down and spotted a card on the table. It had my name on it, so I went over and tore it open.
A picture of the beach was om the front. I opened it up.
"Dear Paige, we've planned a trip to Hawaii! We'll be leaving in June of next year. We know you've always wanted to go to a nice beach, and this is your perfect opportunity. Yes, the card was necessary. We love you. :) -Mom and Dad."
I covered my mouth. No way. I've literally been wanting to go to Hawaii forever.
I ran out to the backyard and spotted them right next to eachother, picking something from the garden.
"NO WAY!" I basically screamed, running over to them. I jumped on them and hugged them as tight as I could.
"Woah!" My dad almost fell.
"Are we seriously going to Hawaii though?"
My mom laughed. "Yes!"
They explained the trip to me. What a perfect way to boost my mood. This is going to be fun. A long wait, but it'll be well waited.

Later that night, my mom and I went to the gym. Afterwards, she took me to Pam's pastries to get some cookies. (Kinda defeats the purpose of working out, but it's what we always do.)
We both walked inside and waited in the line. There was always a line.
When it was our turn, Pam greeted my mom and I.
"Paige! Amy! Nice to see you. What can I get for you ladies?"
I smiled. "Just one of those big sugar cookies." I pointed.
"Aannnd I think I'll get a German chocolate donut?" My mom said, shrugging.
"Very good choice." Pam said, nodding.
"Those are really good." One of the workers said.
I went and sat down at one of the little tables and waited for my mom to pay.
This is just where I'm suppose to be. A normal girl at a pastry shop in Ralston, Nebraska. Not with her famous boyfriend on tour at all of his headlining shows. Not traveling across the USA. I didn't belong.
I smiled when my mom sat down.
This is where I'm meant to be.
