My dad shot me a look.
"Why is he sleeping in your bed?!"
"He came over last night to see me and he just kinda crashed out, I guess.." I looked at Jack.
"Uh huh."
"I'm being honest!"
Jack moved a little and rubbed his eyes. To his surprise, me and my dad were both looking at him. He immediately sat up.
"Oh, hi Mr-"
"Get out." My dad pointed to my door.
"Stop!" I defended.
My dad walked out of my room annoyed. He went upstairs.
"I'm sor-" Jack began.
"Shh.. listen." I tried to hear what my dad was going to tell my mom upstairs.
"So is it Jack's car?" She said.
"Yes it is. And he's also sleeping in her bed."
"Wait what?"
"She tried to cover him up so I wouldn't see!"
"That doesn't sound like Paige."
"Well I'm not lying."
"I'm 17 and they still can't ever just let me be." I said. throwing my hands up.
"I'm sorry if I got you in trouble I didn't even realize..."
"It's fine. You know how he is." I rolled my eyes.
My mom opened my door.
"Hi guys." She stood in the doorway.
"Hi Mrs. Holland." Jack gave her a little wave. His voice was still a little lower than normal from just waking up.
"Hi?" I said.
"So you two had a little sleepover?" She smiled.
"Uh, it was unplanned. But yeah." I shrugged my shoulders.
"I just came to visit, I didn't know I'd fall asleep." Jack said.
"Oh, I'm not going to lecture you. I just think it's cute." She grinned at both of us. Jack silently giggled, and my face heated up.
"Okay mom, uh that's great." I rubbed the back of my neck.
"...What'd you guys do?" She said quietly, and raised her eyebrows a couple times and winked.
"Oh my god." I covered my face. Jack was laughing.
"I won't tell your dad." She winked.
"Mom stop." I shook my head and smiled.
"Okay well we made cinnamon rolls if you guys want some, Oh! and there's a fair in Omaha. I heard its a really big event." She suggested.
"Yeah we were planning on going." I smiled.
"Yeah I know." She smiled at Jack and he smiled back.
"Huh?" I looked at both of them.
"I mean yeah it sounds like a fun idea!" My mom smirked. Jack tried not to laugh.
"Okay, seriously, what's up?!" I folded my arms.
"Oh I think your dad is calling me!" She left and went upstairs.
"Jack. What's going on?" I questioned.
"Nothin." He gave a little laugh and ran his fingers through his dark hair.
"Please." I became curious.
"Hey, uh, I'm gonna go back to my place and get some things, want me to pick you up in like an hour? We can head over there." He bit his lip.
"Well I guess since you won't tell me what's up, I'll just have to find out?"
"Okay sounds good see you in an hour." He kissed my cheek and went upstairs.
"Jack!" I begged. I followed him up the stairs.
He grabbed a cinnamon roll from the plate on the counter and took a bite. I did the same.
"K see ya." He tried not to laugh. He started walking out the door.
"Oh my god." I smiled. He waved to me and shut the door.
I'm kind of excited to see what he's planning. I went back downstairs after finishing my cinnamon roll and got into the shower. After, I blow dried my hair and straightened it. I listened to Doing It Right while I was doing my makeup. I knew every word, even Jack J's rap. I decided to wear a little pastel pink circle skirt with a ruffled cream-colored tank top. I put on a necklace that matched the skirt, and sandals that matched the shirt. I went upstairs and waited for Jack until he knocked on the door.
I answered the door.
"Ready?" He smiled.
"I think." I said. We walked out to his Jeep and got in and set off.
"Soo I've been to the Omaha fair like once with Ava and it was in like 9th grade." I said.
"Well they get better every year. They have music performances and games where you can win money and just a ton of stuff now. It's not like it used to be."
"Oh I guess it'll be pretty fun then." I looked out the window.
Jack's POV:
She smiled and looked through her window. She looked so gorgeous and the way she smelt was driving me crazy. She smelt fruity, like strawberries or something sweet. I can't wait to show her what I have planned.
