Chapter 49 - Support

    I hugged him tight. The boys walked over to me. I looked at Sammy from behind Jack's shoulder, who was holding his arms out for me. I released Jack and walked to Sammy for another hug. Nate held his arms out for a hug too, and I accepted. Jack J was the last one I hugged and definitely the best. I've never felt so close to him before.

    I wiped my face. They all looked at me and then at each other, faces in shock.

    "How much do you know?" Sammy asked. I could tell he was trying to be cautious with his words.

    "My mom called me when I was in the bathroom at the airport when we were waiting for the driver. I didn't respond, I just dropped the phone and started crying. Jack came in and asked me what was wrong and I told him-"

    "Wait, you knew before we even got here? And you told Jack?" Jack pointed at us.

   "Listen, she didn't want me to tell you .. I didn't even kno-" Jack J began.

   "Woah, hold up- Why the hell wouldn't you tell me Paige?" Jack said. He quickly looked like he regretted his words.

   I didn't want to look like a baby, but my eyes started watering again.

   "I'm sorry." He walked over to me and held my hands.

   "Tell me why you wouldn't want me to know. You know you don't have to hide anything from me."

   "I didn't want to ruin the tour or make you guys feel bad for me or something-" I didn't make eye contact with him.

   "Woah, Paige, you're not going to ruin anything for us, its okay. You can tell us anything." Sammy said.

   "Yeah we're not going to be mad at you or- just- we care about you. Everything's gonna be fine." Nate said.

    "I-" Jack began. He was interrupted by a woman walking into the bathroom. She looked at all of us.

   "Oh- hi guys, um, should I-" It was our driver.

   "No we were just about to leave." Jack said, walking out.

   We all began walking out.

   "Are you okay?" She touched my shoulder.

    "My best friend just passed away.. These guys are keeping me sane." I said.

   "Oh.....I'm so sorry... You are a lucky girl to have those boys."

    "I know." I smiled. She smiled back as I walked out.

    Jack walked with me, his arm around my shoulder.

    "Do you want anything, babe?" He asked.

   "Uh, coffee? Maybe something to wake me up." We walked over to the coffee machine.

    "Vanilla iced coffee?" He smiled at me.

   "You know me so well." I grinned as he began putting it together.

   We walked over to the candy and he grabbed 2 little bags of gummy peach rings.

   "I know you want these. And you're sharing with me." He smiled. I giggled, because I do want them. I didn't feel sick this time when I laughed.

   He got us both a bottle of water and went up to the checkout counter and paid. The rest of the boys bought their stuff and walked out to the car with us. We got in and settled in our seats. The driver sipped her soda and looked back at me. 

    "Doing alright sweetie?"

    "I'm alright." I smiled.

    "We ready?" She asked everyone.

    "Ready." We all replied.

    I bit my bottom lip and got tears in my eyes. Again.

    "I'm sorry guys, I cry too much." I wiped my eyes.

    "Paige. It's okay. We understand." Jack J said.

   Jack slid closer to me and wrapped his arms around me. I layed my head on his chest.

    "I love you." He said.

   "I love you too." I replied.

    "Awww" Sammy teased. I smiled.

    It went about 1 minute in silence.

   "Guys, I'm sorry for bringing the mood down.." Every time I spoke I choked down tears.

    "You didn't. We're here for you." Jack J said.
