It was about 3am and I was still awake. I refrained from rolling over in my bunk too much because I didn't wnt to wake any of the guys up. Most of them had to force themselves to sleep so they wouldn't be exhausted tomorrow.
I tried not to think about the fortune cookie but it was the only thing on my mind.
"She's coming back." I thought about it over and over again. ...Ava?
I rolled over and played back memories of her and I.
Flashback:
"Go!" Ava said.
"Stop! I'll go when I'm ready." I laughed.
I suddenly felt a push on my back, and that's when I went zooming down the waterslide. I could her Ava's laugh behind me, and I couldn't help but laugh myself. I was terrified of how fast I was going and how cold the water felt.
When I reached the end, I plugged my nose and entered in the water with a splash. Before I got above water, I heard Ava's splash.
"I wasn't ready!" I said to her.
"But you had fun right?" She smiled.
"Yeah..." I confessed. We both laughed and went to the sideline of the pool.
"Are you guys almost ready?" Ava's mom asked.
"Nooo mom. 20 more minutes!" Ava begged.
"10." She said with her arms crossed.
"20! Can't we just stay here by ourselves?"
"15. And no! You're 9 years old, not 18." Her mom laughed.
"Okay." Me and Ava said in sync.
"Wanna do it again?" Ava said to me.
"I'll race you!" I hopped out of the pool and started running to the ladder, hence the "No running" signs.
A tear rolled down the side of my face. That's just what I loved about Ava. She was always inspiring me to do things that I was afraid to do, and if I couldn't get there on my own, she'd motivate me.
"Paige." I heard a whisper. I jumped and looked at the side of my bed. I could see who it was, so I shined the light from my phone. It was Jack.
"You scared me." I said.
"Sorry." He whispered, climbing into my bunk.
"What are you doing?!" I said, moving over.
"I can't sleeeeep." He dragged out his sentence. He got under my blanket and pulled me close to him. The bunk is extremely small, so we were definitely squished. And I was okay with it.
I sighed.
"Why can't you sleep?" I asked.
"Nervous." He said.
"About the tour?"
"Yeah. And I'm just worried about you. I want you to be happy and have fun."
"I will..."
"Are you okay? Really. Be honest." He asked.
"I'm fine." I said.
"If you need to talk, you can literally always come to me. I'll listen to anything you have to say."
I smiled.
He played with strands of my hair.
"I love you." I said.
"I love you more." He said.
"I love you most." I laughed.
"This is a cheesy-ass game."
We both laughed. It was pitch black and I couldn't see anything, and that just made the sound of his voice even sweeter.
My phone vibrated. I picked it up and squinted at how bright it was.
"Holy shit." Jack covered his eyes.
"Sorry." I giggled.
I squinted at the text from Nash.
"Have you heard from Ava?"
