Okay, so this one is just a variation of a story I was already writing, so if there's a mistake, please tell me.
"Oh. Hey. What are you doing here?" Virgil asks and chucks some tree bark into the small lake. Roman sits down next to him.
"You seemed lonely. I know Patton's with his boyfriend, a-and Remy, he's out of town. D-Do you want me not to be here?" Virgil shakes his head.
"No, no, it's fine. I just would've never expected you to want to talk to me. Last time you talked to me without insulting me was... third grade. We were working on a project together." Virgil says, chucking another chunk of bark into the pond. Roman fidgets with a rubber band, making sure not to hurt himself.
"R-Right sorry. I just thought maybe you could help me with something..." Roman says, barely legible, but Virgil heard.
"What is if this time? History? Algebra? Chemistry?" He asks demeaningly, chucking another piece of bark into the lake. Roman shakes his head.
"N-Nothing like that. Well, kind of like chemistry." He says with a laugh. Virgil rolls his eyes and chucks more bark. "How... how did you um..." Virgil looks at Roman angrily.
"How did I...?" He asks for him to finish his sentence. Roman puts his knees to his chest and hides his head inside.
"How did you come out to your family?" He asks muffled through the confines of his knees and hands. Virgil's mood immediately changed from mad to worried and compassionate.
"Oh..." He breaths, dropping the chunks of bark in his hand. "H-How long have you known?" He asks, turning his body away from the lake and to the boy.
"Um... about 15 months. I figured it was probably time." Roman says rubbing his neck and laughing nervously.
"You're good at hiding it, I wouldn't have pegged you as gay. You were barely a blip on my Gaydar. And the only reason you were was because of Romulus, and then he got a girlfriend." He laughs. "Actually Romulus was a bigger blip because he has designer sunglasses, jacket and shoes." He laughs. Roman looks at Virgil as he giggles.
"The way I came out is a bit of a long story, maybe we could do that another day. The um... the sun's going down. Tomorrow? Noon?" Virgil asks, causing a smile on Roman's face to appear. He nods.
"Sounds nice."
Roman woke up at exactly 8 A.M, quickly leaving his room and eating breakfast with his parents.
"So what are you doing today Roman?" His mother, Lena, asks, taking a bite of her waffle.
"I'm meeting a friend at noon. But other than that nothing." Roman says, taking a bite of his own. Roman quickly finishes his food quickly, grabs a notebook and a pencil, and leaves the house.
He sits underneath the tree by the lake, sketching the view at 11:45, waiting for Virgil to arrive.
"Looks nice," Virgil says looking at Roman's drawing and scaring him.
"Why can't you just say hello like a normal person?" Roman asks, closing his notebook as Virgil sits down.
"You know I'm not a normal person." He says with a laugh. "Oh, I got you some tea and macarons." Virgil hands him a white bag and a cup of iced tea.
"Oh, cool thanks." He says, taking them. "So... how did you do the th-tha-that thing, th-that thing that I need to do?" Virgil chuckles at his nervousness, although he understands.
"Well, I actually came out a few ways. And most of them were inside jokes because I have gay friends. Do you want to hear all of them and stories?" He asks, popping his own macaron into his mouth.
