"Roman, this will be your room. We need to set it up, but you will be sharing it with my son, Virgil." Patton said. Roman smiled.
"It's cool here. Where's Virgil?" Roman asked. Patton sighed. This happened a lot. Whenever Virgil was afraid. And it was alright. Just a coping mechanism. Patton walked to the closet, and opened it.
"Hey, Virg, it's okay, she's gone now, you'll be alright. But now, you have a roommate, okay?" Virgil looked passed Patton. He nodded, afraid. "It'll be okay. Roman's very nice." Virgil nervously waved at him and Roman did too. Patton turned to Roman.
"Today is Virgil's birthday! Well, kind of. We don't really know the day he was born, but this is the day that we got him."
"Happy--"
"7th Birthday, Virgil!" Roman said excitedly as he shook his roommate awake.
"Happy 7th Birthday, Roman. Now, could you let me sleep?" Virgil asked as he glanced at the clock. It took him a moment to read the hands, especially with how dark it was. "It's 5 am, ya freak." He said, covering himself back up with the covers.
"I know, but I was thinking--"
"We do this every year!" Roman said. Virgil sighed, tired.
"I know, but I'm still tired." Virgil said, sitting up. Roman laughed a bit.
"Well, maybe, if you didn't stay up till 2 am every night, this wouldn't be a problem. Ya know, Logan always says 'The average 13 year old needs 9-11 hours of sleep.'" Roman quoted in the most emotionless voice he could muster. Virgil sighed.
"Whatever." He said, picking up his pillow. Roman smiled as he turned on their star light. They set it between them, laying down sibling style (that's where one person lays with their feet near the other person's face and vice versa) but Roman was sitting. "What are you thinking about this year, dorkus?" Roman laid down, setting his pillow down beneath his head.
"My destiny." He said. Virgil snickered.
"Your destiny?" He asked. Roman sighed and sat back up.
"Virgil, don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about. I find it hard to believe that in the 9 years that we've all lived together, that you and I have lived together that Logan and Patton haven't told you." Virgil sat up, nervously laughing.
"Haha, oh... You mean that destiny... the one that I am destined to help fulfill." He said, nervously smiling. The smile broke as he sighed. "Why are you thinking about that, Ro? Even if it happens, we'll find your true love, we'll undo it. And then you'll have a nice princess to rule the kingdom with you." Virgil said. Roman sighed, looking over to their door.
"That's the thing, Virgil, I'm not sure that it would find a princess." He said. "I doubt it, actually."
"Don't say that, Ro. I'm sure that there's someone out there who will love you for you, not for your status or wealth. And she--"
"I don't want to find a princess, Virgil!" Roman yelled, looking Virgil dead in the eyes, who looked at him afraid.
"Well, I'm not letting you sleep forever!" He yelled back, tears in his eyes. Roman looked at him sympathetically before pulling him in for a hug.
"Virgil, that won't happen."
"If you don't want to be with someone, then it will. And I will have helped cause it, I don't... I don't ever want to hurt you." He wept. Roman pulled away from the hug, keeping Virgil in his arms, gently putting his hand on Virgil's cheek.
