Roman's whole life, he wondered how his superpower would help him find his soulmate. His power was that he could see dead people and spirits. He could even see spirit animals and other invisible things. He could also interact with them. He didn't know why. But he liked his power. When his brother died, he didn't mind as much, he could still talk to him. And his spirit animal was a baby lion who he loved to cuddle with.

"Roman!" Patton started. RomanRomanRomanRomanRomanRomanRomanRomanRomanRomanRomanRo-"

"Yes, Patton?" Roman asked, frankly bothered by Patton's upbeat manner at how early it was. Patton's spirit kitten-puppy pouted its face in Patton's hair

"I found my soulmate!" Patton started. "He's so cool! He's smart and cute and incredibly-"

"Logan?" Patton looked at Roman with a confused Simba look.

"How did you know that?"

"You're a healer..."

"Yes?"

"And he's got a venomous kiss and poison generation and control. It's obvious. You're immune. Oh, and you've been in love with him for like 3 years. You can't fall in love with anyone but your soulmate." Roman said, completely dull.

"I mean, isn't he amazing though!" Patton started. Behind him, something began to stir. Someone popped out from behind the wall. As in, they phased through the wall. As Patton began to ramble, Roman's eyes fell to the figure that had come from the wall. He had purple hair and was floating. Oh. He could fly and go through walls. Roman wondered how that could help someone find their soulmate. He began to stare at the boy's bangs and how he literally sat on air looking through his phone and listening to music on large headphones. And how his spirit animal was a tiny purple kitten who sat on his lap, cuddling into his visibly oversized jacket. "Roman? Are you listening?"

"What? Oh, gee, sorry. No. I'm uh... I'm staring at the boy behind you." Roman whispered even though he was clearly distracted by his music. Patton looked behind him, finding nothing.

"Roman, there's no one behind me. Maybe he's dead." Patton suggested. Roman shook his head

"That can't be. Sure, he kind of looks like a spirit, but he has a spirit animal. Spirit's don't have spirit animals. They're the spirits themselves. They don't need a spirit animal." Roman started. He walked up to the boy, getting his attention. "Excuse me? Are you dead?" Roman asked. The boy looked at him nervously and began to pet his spirit animal. "How are you-"

"Technically."

"What?

"I mean, technically, I am dead. But not forever. I'll probably come back in..." Virgil checked his phone. "Eh, I don't know. Probably next week or something." He said, rubbing his neck nervously.

"How are you technically dead?"

"I can die on command. I always come back. And when I'm a ghost I can see spirits too. Anyway, you can see invisible things, right?" He asked. Roman blushed but nodded.

"Y-Yeah." The boy laughed.

"Yet I was so invisible that even you couldn't see me." He said.

"Okay, I am so confused, so I'm leaving." Patton cut in, leaving the room.

"What do you mean... um..."

"V... V. Call me V."

"Yes, what do you mean, V?" Roman asked.

"Do you really think that I would just spend my time in a stupid high school?" V asked. "No. I go here. And even you didn't notice. The boy who sees invisible things and ghosts." He sighs. "This is why I prefer to be dead. That way when no one notices me, it's because I'm not really there." He sighed again. "Maybe I should just stay dead," V mumbled.
