AN- High school AU, Cheerleader and Baton Twirler Patton, Football Player Roman, Marching Band/Percussionist Virgil, Patton and Virgil are best friends, Roman and Logan are unlikely friends.

Patton was hopeless.

"Excuse me, have you taken any notes about the history homework?" Logan asked after he arrived at Patton and Virgil's table. Patton blushed and opened his mouth. Virgil rolled his eyes.

"I... I..." Patton spluttered.

"He doesn't and I don't either, go away now Pocket Protector," Virgil said. Logan walked away, unphased and Patton was brought out of his trance. He hit Virgil in the back of the head. "Ow! Dude!"

"You were the one being rude to Logan! He doesn't deserve it!" Patton exclaimed, in a childish dad voice, if that makes any sense. He crossed his arms. "You should apologize to him." Virgil rolled his eyes.

"You're only saying that because you're in love with the pocket protector."

"No, I'm not, it's rude and he doesn't deserve it!" Patton exclaimed. Virgil smirked.

"I'll apologize when you ask him out." Patton's arms and face fell. He nervously looked away.

"I-I'll ask him out next time. I promise! And you'll have to apologize to Logan."

"Hey, can Roman and I sit here?" Logan asked in Science. Patton just opened his mouth slightly, waiting for words to escape.

"I, uh, you..." He stuttered. "Y-Yeah." He breathed. Logan sat next to Patton and Virgil smirked.

"You gonna ask him?" Virgil teased. Patton turned to Logan, who was fixing his hair by combing it back with his fingers. He just silently squeaked before turning back to Virgil.

"I-I'll ask him next time."

"Can I borrow a pencil?"

"S-Sure" Patton squeaked, handing him a pencil covered in hearts.

I'll ask him next time.

"Would you like the rest of this?" Logan held out half of his PB and crofters sandwich. Patton nodded with wide eyes and took it.

I'll do it next time.

"Do you have the algebra notes?" Patton handed him his notebook.

I'll do it next time.

"Could you pass my pencil?" Patton reached beneath his chair and retrieved the pencil, their fingers brushing each other as he handed it to him.

Next time

"Could I help you with that?" Patton nodded, and Logan leaned over Patton's paper to get a closer look.

Next time...

"You did a good job cheering today, Patton." Blush covered both of their faces and Patton covered one of his cheeks.

N-Next time.

"I... Your hair looks nice today, Patton." Logan looked at Patton dreamingly.

N-Next time...

"You should stop procrastinating," Virgil said. From across the classroom, Patton was staring at Logan. He was brought out of his daze by Virgil's voice.
