AU- Human, High School
TW- Small mention of disapproving parents, Patton cries.
This doesn't come up, but I'd like to mention that Patton has two moms.
"Patton, are you ready for the debate exercises after school today?" Logan asked as they walked down the hall. "Since Emile and Thomas aren't here, Virgil and Roman are making the prompts, so they may be a little strange." Logan warned. Patton giggled.
"I'm so ready! And strange prompts just helps us be more prepared! If we can argue for strange things, we can argue for realistic things!" Patton said with excitement and determination.
"That actually makes some sense." Logan said, quieter than usual.
"Thank, Lo!" Patton said with a sweet smile. If Patton was being completely honest, he only joined debate to help Logan. They couldn't have only 3 members, and it was so important to Logan that Patton decided to join. At the time, he didn't know that was great at debate, but he was.
"You are welcome, Patton."
"Where are we meeting today?" Patton asked, bounding with excitement as they reached their lockers. Logan always held too much stuff, so Patton would put in his combination and Logan would put his stuff in his locker. Patton was happy to do it.
"I believe it's the library. Usually we wouldn't use such an open space for such a small practice, but Virgil and Roman tend to be loud." Logan explained. Patton giggled as he opened his own locker.
"We should know that more than anyone. I love them and all, but they need to just tell each other how they feel," Patton said with a small laugh as he put his things in his book bag.
"What do you mean?"
"Oh, Roman likes Virgil. And Virgil likes Roman. So it's funny to watch them argue when they really don't want to." Patton said with a laugh. "I guess that's kind of how I feel about debate. It's fun and all, and I love winning, but I wish I didn't have to argue with you." Patton said. Logan stared at Patton as he put his pastel coloured bag on his back. "Logan, do you need help with your stuff?" Patton asked, realizing that Logan still hadn't put his things in his bag.
"What? No, my apologies," He said, before shoving his things in his bag.
"Come on, Logan!" Patton said, skipping in the direction of the library. "The sooner we get there the sooner we can start!" He said, turning back around to face Logan with a smile on his face.
"Of course," Logan said, following. He had to walk quickly to keep up with Patton's skipping, but he managed. Patton had the sweetest smile on his face, excited, clearly looking forward to debate.
When they made it to the library, Roman and Virgil weren't there yet. Patton sighed and they sat across from each other at a table.
"Patton?"
"Logan?"
"Might I ask you a question?" Logan asked, placing his bag on the chair next to him. Patton giggled.
"You just did, silly!" Logan sighed and Patton nervously scratched his neck. "Right, sorry, go ahead, Logan." He clarified.
"Why are you so excited today? You usually enjoy debate, but not this much. What makes this time so different as to make you ecstatic before debate even begins?" He asked. Patton laughed as he took a notebook and pencil out of his bag.
"Come on, Lo, we both know that Roman and Virgil are never on time. That means we get to spend time together. Even if we don't talk, I just enjoy your company." Patton explained. Logan nodded. He understood, more than he expected.
