Patton entered his favourite coffee shop, Where Sleep Sleeps.
"Hello, Roman!" Patton cheerfully greeted.
"Hello, mian mocha freeze with chocolate chips and extra whipped cream!" Roman jokingly greeted, just like he did everyday.
"Yes, please."
"Still working on your book?" Roman asked, as he began preparing Patton's coffee. It was a small coffee shop, not a ton of customers, but enough to make a living off of working there.
"Yes. I just can't seem to get anything right. I know the basic premise, but it just seems off. It's as bad as like..." Patton thought for a second. "... a coffee shop AU." Patton finished, waving his arms to the coffee shop around him.
"That sucks. Well, if you ever need help with it, let me know, I've been told I'm quite creative." He said, handing him his coffee. Patton took it and sat at a table by the window.
Across the street was another coffee shop, The Coffee Cafetorium. Where Logan entered.
"Hello, Virgil." He said, tired out of his mind. He rested his head on his hand, which was propped up by his elbow laying on the counter.
"Hey, Logan. Black coffee?" Virgil asked. Logan just mumbled something in a tired nonsense language. "Logan? Black coffee?" He asked. When Logan didn't respond, he clapped his hands in his face, making his wake up. "Black coffee?" He asked.
"Oh... Yeah. Thanks." He answered, clearly still tired. But Virgil handed him his coffee and he sat by the window.
The street was narrow and you could see into the shop across the street. Which Patton did. And Logan did too. And they did the next day. And the next. And every day for the next month. Today, something was different though. Logan was wearing a different tie. He had spent 45 minutes getting ready and it was a Saturday. And when Patton saw him through the window, he took out a piece of paper and jotted something on it.
'I like your tie' it said in big letters, so that he could read it. Logan smiled and jotted down a quick 'Thank You' before blushing down at his laptop which had a single, blank google doc.
"Virgil? Could I have another coffee, please?" He asks.
After 5 coffees, Logan goes up for one more and Patton leaves the coffee shop to walk home. And when Logan is ready to go say hello to Patton for the first time, he sees that he's not there.
The next day, when Logan went to The Coffee Cafetorium, he saw Virgil locking the door.
"Virgil? What are you doing? I go here every day. I need coffee." He said, nervously. In all honesty, that' not why he wanted to be let it, it's so he could stare at Patton through the window. Virgil sighed.
"Look, today it's a collective day off. I'm not going to go in just so that you can flirt with mian mocha freeze with chocolate chips and extra whipped cream." Virgil started, earning a confused look from Logan. "It's his regular order. Look, I'm going over to Where Sleep Sleeps to hang out with my boyfriend. You can come too. You and him can flirt in person then. And fuck, or whatever you nerds do to show their love." Virgil said.
"First off, nerds still copulate, and second, I'm not in love with him, I've never even talked to him! And-"
"He's in love with you."
"What?" Logan said, almost breathlessly.
"He believes in love at first sight. And for you two, there was a month of that sight. So if that changes what you just said, fuck or again, whatever it is nerds like you do to show your love." Virgil said, walking into the coffee shop. He almost immediately ran past the customer who was walking to the counter, knocking him down, to meet his boyfriend. "Hey, my prince."
"Hello, my knight in dark amour!" He said before kissing him over the counter. "Go backstage, babe, let me tend to the customers for now, okay?" Virgil nodded and went back to the 'employs only' part of the shop.
"Hey, are you okay?" Logan asked the customer who was picking up papers that had came out of their open backpack-style purse.
"Yeah." They said while standing up. "Sorry." They said, looking at Logan. Logan saw now that he had curly dark blonde hair, milk chocolate eyes, warby parker glasses and his face was peppered with freckles. "Oh. H-Hey!"
"It-"
"W-We have the same glasses!" Patton blurted.
"Y-Yup," Logan stuttered.
