"May I sit here?" A boy asked, walking up to the library table. Patton would stay at the library while his mother worked there. He was 7, he sat alone at a table. This boy had shaggy dark brown hair and heterochromatic blue and green eyes.

"Sure." The boy sat down and pulled out a Rick Riordan book. Patton's eyes widened and immediately felt embarrassed about his book about animals. "H-How old are you?" Patton stuttered.

"I am 7. How old are you?" The boy asked, not looking up from his book.

"I-I'm 7 too." His voice was small. " I'm Patton!" Patton exclaimed quietly, holding out his hand. The boy shook his hand.

"My name is Logan." They both retracted their hands. "May I ask what school you happen to attend?" He still hadn't looked up from his book, in fact, he turned the page.

"I go to Rose Quartz Elementary. G-Go Narwals. I'm in the second grade." Patton stuttered.

"Rose Quartz Elementary. My mother has put me in first grade. It's demeaning, I'm above everyone in my class, but of course, I would get put in the first grade!" He said quietly, but upset.

"S-Sorry about that." Patton stuttered. They stayed there for a couple of hours, in silence.

"A-Are your parents here?"Patton asked. Logan shook his head. "How'd you get here?"

"I walked."

"How far away do you live?"

"5 blocks." Patton's eyes widened.

"Logan, it's cold outside. Why would you do that to yourself?" He asked, slightly loudly. Logan put his finger up to his chapped lips. He put his hand back down.

"Patton, I wish not to be surrounded by my family. They're inconsiderate parents, rude siblings. I am neglected, Patton. But that's alright. I do not like to socialize with them. They do not like me, I do not like them." Logan said. For the first time, he put down his book and looked at Patton. He scanned Patton up and down before settling back at his eyes.

"Christmas is next week, Logan. Time of family. How can you want to not be with them?" Logan broke his perfect posture and sunk down in the wooden chair. "Logan?"

"They don't... do that."

"Oh, they don't celebrate Christmas? That's fine, Logan, I didn't mean to offend you!" Patton said. Logan shook his head, confusing Patton.

"They don't give me gifts." Patton looked at Logan with sad eyes, his smile quickly fading.

"Oh. Logan, that's terrible--"

"It's quite alright, Patton. I'm adequate sitting in my room, reading my books." Logan gave Patton a clearly forced smile. "I'll be alright by myself, Patton."

"But everyone deserves to get a gift. They deserve to be appreciated. Logan, no one deserves to be left out." Patton exclaimed. "You can do Christmas with me!" He whisper-yelled.

"Patton-"

"Patton." A sweet voice said. Logan and Patton looked up to find Patton's mother. She had dark blonde hair, much like Patton's, and green eyes. "My shift is over. Who's this?"She asked before sitting down next to them both.

"This is Logan. Mama, could he spend Christmas with us?" Patton asked, his voice hopeful.

"I'm sure his family--"

"I wish not to spend my Christmas with my family. They're cruel. But it's not to be taken heavily. I shall only stay in my bedroom until the day is over." Logan told the woman. She rolled her eyes.
