TW- Patton cries, yelling

"My mama said that you should eat your dessert last because it's the last taste in your mouth when you stop eating." Logan said. Patton wanted to eat his cupcake before his sandwich at lunch.

"Oh my goodness! That's so smart!" Patton said. "Hey, can I see your pen?" He asked.

Logan always kept on with him, especially since Patton enjoyed drawing on his own arms so much. Logan handed the blue pen to Patton. Patton too the cap off of it and pulled Logan's arm closer to himself. He drew a heart on Logan's forearm.

"Why'd you do that?" Logan asked. Patton giggled and gave the pen back.

"I wanted to. Hey, I'll trade you your turkey samich for my pb and j!" Patton exclaimed. Logan looked at it.

"Crofters?" Patton nodded happily. "Deal.

Throughout the week, Patton wrote four more hearts on Logan's arm and he rushed up to his moms' room.

"Look what Patton drew on my arm!" He exclaimed, showing the fresh and faded hearts drawn on Logan's arm.

"Oh, he drew these?" His mother asked. Logan nodded happily.

"That's so cute!" His mama said. Logan nodded.

"Yeah, Patton's so cute!" Clara and Laura looked at each other.

"You think this little boy's cute?" Laura asked.

"Mhm!" Logan said happily.

"Okay. Cool." Clara said with a smile. Logan ran off to show his little brother. "Bet you that they're gonna end up together." Laura nodded, writing it on a piece of paper and putting it in a shoe box.

"Bet." She said as she shook her wife's hand.

Over the span of years, Patton would still randomly draw hearts on Logan's arms. That is, until, 8th grade.

"Logan, can I use your marker?" He asked. Logan fidgeted with the marker in his hand.

"Are you gonna draw a heart?"

"Yeah..." Patton said nervously.

"Could you not draw it in a place where other people can see it? Maybe under my sleeve?" Logan requested. Patton smiled.

"Oh, of course, Logan!" Patton exclaimed. Logan handed the marker to Patton. Patton pushed up Logan's short sleeve and drew a small heart on Logan's shoulder. Logan shivered quietly.

"That is colder than I expected." Patton giggled and handed the marker back.

"So... high school is next year." Patton said nervously.

"Patton, it's the beginning of the school year. It's in a year." Logan said. Patton giggled again.

"Yeah, but still, it's scary."

"Don't worry, Patton. We'll have each other. It'll be just like this year, last year, and the year before." Logan said. Patton gave a sad smile.

"Logan, what if it isn't the same? I mean, you're smarter than me. What if we don't have any classes together? What if we never get to spend any time together?" Patton asked. Logan pet Patton's shoulder caringly, if not a little awkward.

"Patton, we're inseparable. Even if we don't have any classes together, even if we can't spend time together at school, I'll be with you the rest of the time, okay?" He asked. Patton smiled and wrapped his arms around Logan.
