"Adrien, can I talk to you, please?" Miss Bustier asked the young blond as everyone was relocating to their next class. "It'll only take a moment."
Adrien nodded, meeting his teacher by her desk, looking back to Marinette. "Go ahead, Mari. I'll meet up with you soon."
Marinette smiled and walked out with Alya and Nino.
Once everyone had left the room, Miss Bustier began to speak. "Now, I didn't want to bring this up earlier because I was afraid it'd embarrass you, considering your such a good student..."
Adrien frowned. "Oh, am I in trouble?"
"No, nothing of the sort!" Miss Bustier sighed, grabbing a piece of paper from her desk. "Um, on my last exam, you received an unusually low mark. I'm a bit concerned."
Adrien took the test from her hands, not believing her words. "W-What did I get?"
32/ 50
"N-No way!" Adrien stared at the grade, convinced his eyes were failing him. "That's... a 64%! Th-That's failing! That's not possible. Miss Bustier, the lowest grade I've ever gotten was an A- in math!"
"I understand." Miss Bustier took his test away, putting a hand on his shoulder. "But I'd like to ask what happened. Did you lose focus during the test? Have you had problems at home or problems studying?"
Adrien's eyes widened. "Marinette."
"Huh?"
"My father doesn't allow friends over or let me out of the house often," Adrien explained. "He only allows Marinette over to keep me company. Between school, photo shoots, and extracurriculars, the time I usually used to study was replaced with time with Marinette."
"I see," Miss Bustier smiled softly. "I can see that Marinette is the cause for your sudden mood change, and that she's very good for you." She patted his head, and he returned the smile. "However, girls are no reason to fall back on your studies. You're father is very disappointment."
Adrien cringed. "My father? He knows?"
"Yes, it's my job to notify a parent when their child fails a test," Miss Bustier said. "I believe he wanted you to call him after I spoke to you about it."
Adrien turned pale as a ghost. "Oh no..."
Adrien quickly took out his phone and called his father, who unusually picked up right away.
"Father, I--"
"I'm disappointed," Gabriel spoke sharply. "Failing an English test. All you had to do was read a book! How did an Agreste manage to get a 64%?!"
"I'm sorry, father. I've been a little distracted..."
"With Marinette, I know," Gabriel sighed. "I understand you're very... attached to her. But if you cannot get your grades up, I might have to--"
Adrien's lip began to wobble. "N-No, you can't do that!"
