Adrien, over the course of the night, had moved back to the cold floor beside Marinette. He watched her breathe, making sure she didn't skip a single breath. But the exhausted boy couldn't help but eventually fall asleep.

Plagg yawned, opening his eyes to see he'd fallen to the bed as Adrien was now asleep. He smiled at his chosen. "Good. He went to sleep."

Adrien gasped awake

Adrien gasped awake. "Sleep?! Mari!" He looked to see Marinette was still breathing fine, and sighed in relief.

"Sorry, kid." Plagg flew up. "I didn't mean to wake you."

Adrien shook his head. "No, I'm glad you did. I wasn't supposed to fall asleep."

Plagg frowned. "Adrien, please, tell me you slept more than your face is telling me."

Adrien looked towards the sun, seeing the sun was only just above the horizon, and shrugged. "Ten--twenty minutes?"

Plagg face palmed himself. "Really, kid?"

Adrien yawned. "Yeah, I mean, the sun was already up when I drifted."

The kwami rolled his eyes. "You need to sleep."

Adrien was now focused on Marinette again, resting his chin against the bed. "I need to stay up for Marinette."

"Kid..."

Adrien pouted at the girl's lifeless hand before holding it to his cheek. He smiled sadly. "Still bakery warm." Then he held it over his head, whimpering at how she could not rub his head or play with his hair. "M-Marinette..."

Knowing his chosen all too well, and exactly what he needed, Plagg took Marinette's hand and placed it gently on the bed.

"H-Hey!"

Plagg shook his head and sighed, running his own paw through the blond's hair. Realizing the gesture, Adrien smiled and allowed him to do so. It wasn't the same as Marinette, for Plagg's paw was much smaller than her hand. But he was gentle and it tickled a bit. Adrien very much appreciated his intentions and it made him feel a little better.

"Thank you, Plagg."

Plagg smiled. "You'd do the same for me."

"You two are cute."

"Tikki, you're awake." Adrien looked up, but didn't move his head as he didn't want Plagg to stop rubbing him. "Good morning."

"Good morning." the little kwami returned. "I don't think I've ever seen you show so much affection towards a chosen, Plagg."

"Yeah, well," Plagg purred with adoration, "I don't usually love my chosens either. I really love this one, Tikki."

Plagg hadn't used his silly pet name for her, so Tikki knew he was speaking solemnly and from his heart. She was glad to see that her counterpart's bad luck had no interference with this chosen.
