Chloé caught Adrien on the way to lunch, knowing he was trying to find Marinette. The ponytailed blonde threw herself around him.
"Adrikins!" she squealed, attempting to kiss him as he pulled away. "Won't you have lunch with me?"
"Oh, hey, Chloé." Adrien managed to get out of her grasp. "Actually, I was looking to join Marinette."
"Well, forget her." Chloé scoffed, flipping her hair. "I'm much better then that Maritrash."
"Don't talk about Marinette like that!" Adrien snapped, surprising the prissy blonde. "I'm sick of you treating her like garbage! She doesn't deserve it!"
Upon hearing her name, Marinette rushed to the two blondes, cutting between them. "Woah, woah, woah. What's going on?"
"None of your business, Maritrash!"
Adrien growled. "I said stop calling her that!"
Marinette gasped at his outburst, along with most of the cafeteria. She put a hand to his chest, feeling his heart racing. "Adrien, calm down. Please."
"No! Chloé's so... argh! She won't leave me alone. She's always mean to not only you, but she treats everyone like crud." Adrien said, fists at his sides. He removed Marinette's hand from his chest as he moved in on Chloé, causing her to back up. "I gave you so many chances too. No more. You're not worth my friendship. And not even your father could buy you a better personality."
That was too far.
Marinette stepped in front of the infuriated blond, pushing him back a few feet away from a rather petrified Chloé. "Adrien, what the heck was that?"
Adrien still had his eyes locked on Chloé. "But she--"
"I don't care!" Marinette grabbed his face. "Look at me!"
Adrien fixed his sight on Marinette's sweet bluebell eyes and could no longer be angry. His fury vanished within seconds of staring at his upset pigtailed friend. Now seeing that he was focused on her, his anger flooding away, Marinette's glare on him faded as well, turning into a soft demeanor of concern.
"Calm down. Breathe," she told him, hand again placed on his chest to feel his slowing heart rate. "Good boy. Better?"
Adrien nodded slowly.
Marinette exhaled. "Adrien, you took it too far. What you said was horrible."
Adrien blushed. He was really mean, wasn't he? He must've hurt Chloé. He was angry and hadn't meant to say any of that. Adrien was all out of sorts today. But worst of all, he presented himself badly in public, and in front Marinette. If she wasn't upset with him before, she most certainly is now.
"I-I'm sorry..."
Marinette shook her head. "No, not to me. To her."
Adrien looked over Marinette's shoulder to see a rather distressed Chloé, visible tears present as she still gaped at Adrien, not yet processing the words he'd just spoken. Adrien really had gone too far. Although Chloé could be mean and rather clingy, she was always there for Adrien throughout the years. He never wanted to hurt her like he just did now.
