Before we start, I would like to give you a heads up; Bring tissues, because this isn't a happy story. That's all, you may now proceed.
Many of the Hermits started noticing how pink camellia flowers started appearing in ponds and other bodies of water around the server, they where most commonly seen around Area 77 and Hermit Land. No one knew how they got there, nor did they know who placed them there. No one really minded them, but they were all still curious.
One day while Doc was doing his morning patrol of Area 77 he saw something unusual, of in the distance the hippies stood, and judging from what he could see they seemed to be arguing. Interesting, what where they fighting about?
Just as he was walking over to question them they left, Grian stay awhile longer before flying away. Curiosity getting the better of him, he walked over to where the two stood. Shockingly he found around four bloody pink camellia flowers just laying there. Why where they here? Was Grian and Ren responsable for all the flowers that had been appearing everywhere? Doc decided that he was going to keep a closer look at those two, the hippies couldn't be trusted, not even with the simplest of things.
Days past and more and more flowers started appearing, but more and more of them where bloody and no longer in water. It was the day the first bouquet appeared that something seemed to switch in some of the Hermits, Ren most prominently. Wels and Joe started asking for the person responsible for the flowers to come to them, and Doc was tempted to tell them that he thought Ren and Grian where responsible, but he didn't. Xisuma was also looking for the person, what was the big deal with this? Why where the flowers so worrying? Seriously what was going on?
This kept up for almost two weeks and as the weeks went everyone saw less and less of both Grian and Ren and soon the two stoped coming out whatsoever. So Doc and Scar both thought that something was going on at the hippie commune and went to investigate, but once they got there they where shocked. Everything looked dead, like no one was caring for the place. And to add to it all there where camellia petals, flowers and bouquets all over the ground each and everyone covered in blood.
Doc and Scar looked at each other worriedly, something was wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong. Quickly spreading out they tried to find there two missing friends, but to no avail, they found absolutely nothing. They where thinking of quitting the search when Scar found a hole underneath one of the giant mushrooms next to Renbob's farm, not wasting anymore time they both jumped down. Only to be meet with the most heartbreaking sight.
Ren was on the ground sobbing, in his arms he was clutching the dead form of Grian, pale and lifeless. All around them lay camellia flowers, all way bloodier then the once above ground. As the two approached they could hear him quietly talking in a language neither could understand, trough his sobs.
Scar immediately raced over, eyes wide and scared. Doc soon raced after as well, any form of hostility that could have been there wiped of the face of the earth. Scar came to a halt right next to Grian and Ren, kneeling down to take a look at Grian up close.
"What happened?" whispered Scar, horrified about what he was seeing.
Ren waited awhile before answering, not wanting to interrupt whatever he was going to say by his own sobs, "I was an idiot, that's what happened"
"What do you mean?" asked Doc, concern and confusion swirling through his mind at a fast pace.
Ren opened his mouth to speak, but Doc cut him of, "Hanahaki disease, Grian had hanahaki disease?"
A broken sob escaped the wolf, "Yes, and, and he loved... he loved me, but I didn't realize until it was to late", he finally looked up from the body cradled in his arms, "And the worst part is that I could of stopped all of this, because I loved him back. But I was a coward and didn't say anything and now he's dead"
A heavy silence filled the room, no one daring to say anything.
How were they going to tell the others, what were they going to do with Grian? And why wasn't he respawning? He died, but you come back to life as long as you still have leaves on your tree and if you don't die by a gun of any kind. So why wasn't he respawning? All of these questions whirled around inside of Scar's head, but he only asked the last question out loud.
"Grian won't come back, hanahaki is as deadly as a gunshot wound. If you die by it then your gone for good. There is of course surgery to get rid of it, but that means giving up on feeling anything at all. And Grian didn't want that, and in the end that's what killed him. The only good thing about hanahaki is that it's super rare, so it's not a big chance that anyone will get it"
Scar grew silent after that, now even sadder then before. The world just liked to make Grian suffer, didn't it?
That's how the others found them later, all solemnly sitting around sharing personal stories about the fallen Hermit. No on had a dry face, it was rare that a Hermit perma-died.
A grave site was built on a cliff close to the shopping district, any one could give anything or build anything. As a sign that they would never forget him, and Doc hate it.
He didn't hate doing it, that is, he just hated that he has had to bury yet another friend, wasn't the nHo enough? Grian now to? The world was out to get him, by hurting the people he cared about.
Looking up he from the poppy he just planted he saw Ren sitting besides the grave, and he was saying something. So Doc stepped closer to hear properly.
"I never knew how lucky I was to have meet you Gri, and I'm sorry I never said it to directly... But I love you, more the anything, and I'm so sorry that I never said it to your face.
And I'm sorry, for everything I couldn't give to you. And I'm sorry for all that I took away"

There isn't anything more here, Grian's gone. I'm not writing a different ending, nor am I adding anything. But since you all came all the way down here looking for more, I'll give you an explanation as to why I used pink camellia flowers. You see, pink camellia represent longing, a reflection of red camellia which represents love. Two colors so close, yet so far apart.
I chose pink camellia to represent one thing, a love that Grian would never get.
If I where to ever do a timeline in which he was saved from the disease then I would use red camellia. But this isn't a happy ending, so all you can do is long for an ending you'll never find
