Grian had been intrigued about the group of people known as the Hermits for a long time now, how they worked so smoothly together even if they sometimes butted heads, how they jumped to a new world every few years, how some left while others stayed.
He had not been part of a world since Evo, having been too busy with training and Watching over his own world.
But after said world turned on them and somehow got the two Watchers looking over their world (The Watchers being Grian and a close Watcher friend) into the "normal" plain, and then they somehow managed to kill the other Watcher. He lost watching his own world, but he got busy doing something else, busy getting revenge.
This was seen as an immediate threat to all of the Watchers and it was decided they would wage war against these people and turn there world to ashes, you mess with one Watcher, you mess with them all.
Grian had asked to lead, to show them why you don't hurt the people he cared about. They didn't see it coming, their buildings where up in flames before they knew it and soon the entire world was burning. The villagers and other mobs they had worked so hard on getting were destroyed before their eyes by the Warriors, the resources they gathered and there equipment where stolen and destroyed by the Assassins, but worst of all where the Warlocks, their magic tormented the foolish players by making them live their worst nightmares and feel every death they've ever had.
The world was reformed into what was soon to be the Elyqin's, and also the Watchers, new home. It was a sign to say that this was theirs, always has been and always will be.
So while his experiences with worlds may be little and mostly catastrophic, he wanted to try again. So after speaking with the High Order he got permission to be both active in the server and be the Watcher on the server, he knew about Zloy and Pixl being on the server so he knew watching the server wasn't a problem.
So before the Hermits made the jump he started practising not using his powers. He could still use all the wind magic he wanted and he still had his wings, but not being able to use most of his other powers would be weird, especially in the beginning.
When the day of the jump happened, he went into the world to wait. He had practised for weeks, he had made the arrangements with Zloy and Pixl, so everything was set.
Introducing himself to the group was easy, talking to them was a bit weird in the start seeing as they spoke freely and without much care, but he got used to it. Looking over them he found some of them looking at him kind of suspiciously. The two Vex's might sense some of the lingering magic that was used recently by Grian. The admin was also looking, being the one in charge made him the one to look after all the other Hermits and Grian was a stranger to them so he was a potential threat. The last person was Doc who just seemed to look right past his perfect masks and truly see who was under, yet he wasn't currently a threat.
But after a few days they started trusting him, he wasn't being watched by the Convex duo as much, Xisuma even started to have normal conversations with him, but the fourth person was different. He could see Doc speaking with the two Shadows from time to time and everytime after he saw this interaction he always felt them follow him, everytime without fail. It was getting kind of annoying, the almost constant feeling of being watched. He knew that sooner or later something was going to happen, he just hoped it wouldn't end badly.
But something bad happened, something really bad.
It was the final battle of the Civil War and Grian had just gotten the flag and was making his way over the battlefield when an arrow hit him right in the shoulder, but it wasn't any regular arrow, it was a magic dampening one. Looking up he saw Doc with a bow in hand face plank, X stood by his side and had an almost guilty face. What was going on? Looking around he saw that the fight was paused and both teams where looking at him, seriously what was going on?
Here Doc spoke up, "Grian, we know your secret" Grian's eyes widened, they knew his secret? What does that mean?
"What secret?" countered the shorter Hermit, hoping he could at least get an idea of what they were talking about.
Doc growled, "'What secret?' Stop playing me for a fool! You know exactly what I'm talking about!"
All the other hermits gathered nodded their heads, as if that would help.
"I honestly don't!" sighed Grian, he was getting tired of this, "Just tell me so we can get this over with!
Here X spoke up instead, "He's talking about you never telling us you where an assassin"
Grian completely froze here, and Doc took that as a sign that Grian was confirming he was indeed an assassin. He let out an almost feral snarl before jumping on the builder, sword in hand. Before anyone could react Grian had a sword in him and soon he puffed away, all his stuff still laying on the ground. Waking up with a gasp, the Watcher took in short ragged breaths. Why did Doc attack him? Etho had also once been an assassin and Doc didn't go around killing him back in the old world! So why Grian?
Deciding to not think about that now, he decided that he wanted to punish the people who told Doc his secret, Zloy and Pixl better start running. Flying back on the battlefield and onto the Concorp platform he stood up before the two Vex's, "So boys, I need a little help"
Cub stood taller, "And what makes you think we'll do what you ask?"
Here Grian laughed before turning dead serious, "That wasn't a request", this scared them, because no one had ever seen Grian this mad before. And it was scary.
"Well, what do you need our help with?" Asked Scar, trying to act cool, but in reality he was shaking on the inside. Seriously, how could someone so innocent looking be so scary?
"Get Zloy and Pixl here, now", his tone was clipped, and Cub swears it would cut rock if it could. And if he was being honest he was pretty sure it could.
Scar called up the two Shadows and soon they were both standing side by side in front of Grian, said person had regained his composure and now looked as calm as ever. When they spotted him they seemed to stand taller and slightly tilt their heads down. When Grian spoke it was in some kind of weird language, it sounded ancient and powerful, like one word could destroy the entire universe. Scar and Cub looked at each other in confusion, what language was this?
The two Shadows seemed to also know and speak this language as they talked with the dirty blonde flawlessly.
Suddenly Grian stopped talking and with one snap of his fingers brought everyone that was on the battlefield to stand in front of the platform. It was also now that both Convex's where pushed off the platform by Pixl, said man kind of feeling guilty for pushing them.
The warlock moved to stand on the edge of the platform, taking a deep breath he began to talk, "I can only guess you have many questions,", the hermit's below him silently nodded, but they said nothing knowing it would be a bad idea to interrupt, "But before you start asking them I'll ask you one of my own"
Grian took a pause here, closing his eyes and taking in a deep breath. When he opened his eyes once more every hermit where shocked, instead of the warm brown his eyes normally where these eyes looked like pools of galaxy's, but instead of being blue and purple they were red. And after a few seconds pause he asked the question that would decide the future.
"Do you want me here? Or do you wish me gone?"
This is my longest chapter up to date! Having 1403 words! I will say this now, I'll most likely not celebrate any milestones. Don't take this as me not appreciating your support! I mean I never thought I'd be ranked number on on anything but here I am! I also would once again like to thank my lovely beta reader @Amberangle965 for all the help! But with all this out of the way, I wish you all a lovely existence! Bye!
