Twin

"Mommy! Mommy! I need a family picture for my performance task tomorrow!" masayang salubong ng anak ko sakin. He kissed my cheeks and ganon din ang ginawa niya sa kanyang ama.

"Hi Papa!"

"Why do you need it baby?" tanong ko. He buckled his seatbelt alone. All smiles in his handsome face. He seems happy and excited about it.

"Well, we'll be talking about our families. I will tell that you are a Doctor and Papa is a Pilot! I'm sure they'll envy me for having great and loving parents!" nagkatinginan kami ni Kalix. We both chuckled. I fixed my son's hair lovingly.

"Anak, every parent is a great parent. It comes on their own ways. Remember that, okay? I'll give you the frame tomorrow, hmm?" I told him. He gently smiled and nodded.

"Okay mama. I love you." that melted my heart.

My boy is growing big, I'm afraid he'll not do this lambing to me anymore when he grows up.

"Aww I love you too, baby." I blew him a flying kiss that he jokingly catched.

"How about me?" tanong ni Kalix. Oh my Kalix. You've been so good to me. Pinagmasdan ko ang asawa ko. His bad boy features were still visible, but he looks more mature now. Of course, we're aging. But he's still handsome as ever. He was my big crush since we were in high school, I can't believe I got him. He chose me, though I am me. A smile appeared on my lips.

"I love you of course Papa!" we chuckled as we merrily head home. Nagpaalam si Kalix na may flight siya bukas kaya katabi kong matulog si Kavin. He'll go to the airline early dahil sa hindi ko alam. He always does that.

I went to my house office para kunin ang picture na ipipresent ng anak ko bukas. But clumsily, nabitawan ko siya. Nabasag ang frame at nasira ang holder.

My heart beat doubled in pace.

I stared at our family picture, covered in broken glass. Mabilis akong umiwas. May ibig sabihin ba ito?

"Madame!" gulat pa rin ako nang dumating na ang isa sa mga katulong para linisin ang katangahan ko. I thanked her, kinuha ko ang litrato naming tatlo. All smiles. Me, Kavin and Kalix.

"What does this mean..." bulong ko sa sarili ko. I shrugged it off. Naghanap ako ng bagong picture frame para bukas at ibinigay ito kay Kavin, before he went to school. I went to work too. Sa hospital.

But surprisingly, after a patient went off, a boy came inside my office. It was Kavin, looking sad. With his school bag on his back and while hodling the frame I got him.

"Are you fine Kavin? You're came back from school early? Bakit hindi ka sa bahay nagpaderetso?" I asked him. Nagtama ang mga mata namin. And as his mother, I could tell. He has a lot in mind. He's confused.

"What is it baby? Care to tell mama?" I comforted him and I kissed his head. He looked up to me and gave me the family picture.

"Mama, does Papa has a twin?" he asked me. Bakit... naman niya matatanong 'yon?

"Wala. Your father is an only child, hindi ba?" nagtaka ako. Bakit? Anong nangyari? He looked so down and sad and confused. Mixed emotions. What wrong, Darling?

"Kasi mama, my classmate. Her name is Tatiana. She presented the same picture of Papa. But instead of us, it's her and her mom. I'm confused." nanlaki ang mga mata ko. Bumilis ang tibok ng puso ko at nanubig ang mga mata ko.

"Mama?" Kavin said, his voice cracked.

How... how could I tell my son that he is not his father's son? How can I tell him that kinupkop lang kami ni Kalix dahil mahal niya ako at tinaggap ka niya bilang anak niyang buo kahit na hindi? How?

Napalunok ako. A lone tear escaped my eye. I hugged my son. You are growing too fast.

My son, I'm sorry.
