I stopped in my exact position, knowing exactly what I had heard fall out of Chris's mouth. I try to hold back my excitement from Georgia's pregnancy and ask for clarification. Chris was sensitive with this kind of topic, and I knew that this would either go extremely well or really bad.

"What did you say?" I look over towards Chris, Not bothering to jump in his arms at the statement. I knew that he would try to wiggle his way out of this one.

"I said that I love it" He lies, coughing in between his words to hide what he had just said.

"Love what?" I sneer, As I knew Damn well what he had just said. I knew that he would do this, he was actually trying to hide it instead of admitting to it.

"The fact that she's happy, I mean she's having a baby, Don't you love it?" He responds, trying to cover it up.

"Obviously but-" I stop myself from continuing to dwell on the conversation and roll my eyes. If he wanted me to hear it, he would've spoken louder and not denied it right after.

After ten minutes of ignoring the conversation and beginning to put boxes away, My phone rang. I knew that it was Jon from the moment I heard it ring. This wasn't exactly the best time to be talking about such a happy subject while Chris remained so closed off.

"Hi Jon!" I say, slightly unimpressed, trying to keep my tone excited. I should be happy for them, I am happy for them.

"I'm having a baby Lucie!! Can you believe it?" He yelps, squealing like a ten year old boy.

"I know, that's so exciting, Are you going to tell mom and dad?" I ask, curious as to how my mother will handle the news.

"They're flying down next week week actually, You know for my birthday? I'll just tell them then!" He says, sounding nonchalant about it. Which was insane considering my mother is going to have a shit fit.

"I remember! Totally! Congratulations" I say, totally forgetting of his birthday. It slipped my mind completely due to the craziness that had been going on.

"Thank you! Alright, I just wanted to tell you the good news! I love you and I'll see you next week!" He says.

"I love you too" I respond, before Jon abruptly hands up without any notice.

I sigh, clearly overwhelmed that I was moving into a house with a man who can't even say that he loves me, and if he does, he denies it moments later. He's stubborn and insecure, but he takes that out on me.
He knows that he was in the wrong but I doubt that he would actively admit it.
