Destined to Die [III]

In between the mess I somehow managed to find a pair of sweatpants and an oversized sweater, there were placed in the infirmary for those hunters that would be on rehab after getting serious injuries, they were far too big for me so I had to pull tightly the cord above my hips to keep the sweats from falling but this was better than leaving the infirmary in the hospital gown I was in, it reached above my knees almost to my mid-thigh but most important it had a slit all on my back showing everything and I was not leaving like this. Once I was dressed, I carefully left the infirmary and headed to my bedroom, I needed to know exactly what had happened to me but first I needed a good night of sleep.

Nothing could have ever prepared me for what I would encounter once I had stepped inside my bedroom; Ryder was sound asleep in my bed but what really called my attention was the fact that Ed; or Kyle as I kept myself calling him out of habit, was also asleep in bed with him. By the appearance it seemed that Ryder had taken care of him until they had fallen asleep.

I walked towards the side of the bed where Ryder was and softly caressed his cheek, his eyed immediately flew open.

"Doll, is that you?" He said nearly out of breath.

"Hello Ryder." I whispered with a warm smile.

"You got out of the infirmary?" Ryder asked as he sat up.

I nodded and sat down in the bed keeping Ed between us.

"I got out without permission; I just couldn't stay in that dreadful place along." I said as I shook my head feeling the sudden wave of tiredness hitting me.

"Your dad was taking care of you, Eva probably sent him to rest since he hast left your side at all." Ryder told me.

"How long was I out?" I asked him.

"It has been four days, Doll, you were dead for hours no matter what we tried and just when we were losing hope you came back with a strong and steady heartbeat." Ryder told me.

I nodded slowly; I had felt it; I knew exactly when I was dead.

"My mum, she brought me back." I whispered.

"How was she able to do that?" Ryder asked me.

I brushed the blonde curls out of Ed's face and decided to ignore Ryder's question.

"So, you took care of Ed?" I asked trying to change the subject; I just didn't want to speak about it, at least not at the moment.

"Yes, well Eleanor helped me at first, he wouldn't stop crying because he wanted to be with you, Doll, you have become his mother." Ryder said understanding why I hadn't answered his previous question; he knew better than to press the matter.

I nodded gazing at Ed, well this wasn't working he was Kyle to me.

"I have." I said; my voice slightly shook as I spoke.

"So, you have a child now?" Ryder said as he looked at me.

I smiled at him.

"I know it's a lot to take in, but I couldn't leave him alone; it's strange to be his mother now but know that this seems so normal to me. I know everyone thinks I've gone mad especially since I'm doing this alone." I said as I shook my head in amusement.

Ryder looked at me meeting my gaze.

"Doll, you're not alone. No matter what you do I'll be there for you." Ryder said as he leaned in until our foreheads were touching.

"I love you." I whispered with a soft smile.

"I love you too." Ryder said back before he gave me a small kiss.
