Tears streamed down my face as I realized how badly hurt Mason was, Sebastian had used the same exact type of poison that I had been previously wounded with during the attack at Rob's place and I knew it was only a matter of time before his condition got critical.
I tried to step towards Mason to aid him and stop the poison from spreading more but Sebastian got in my way not letting me get near.
"What is wrong with you Sebastian?" I screamed as I tried to push pass him with no avail.
"I told you I was not one to play game with." Sebastian said pushing me away, we were by ourselves and I knew that no matter what I tried at the moment no one would be able to hear us to aid Mason, everything at this point was useless.
"What is your problem Sebastian? From the very beginning I was quite clear to everyone especially you and my uncle when I told you that under no circumstance, I would never marry you much less procreate, aside from that why in the world would you attack my brother?" I said as my heart raced seeing how the pain in Mason increased after all I had firsthand experience on that.
"You don't fool me Alice, now leaving your soon to be dead boyfriend to the side you and I have some unfinished business." Sebastian said in a tone that made me take a step back in precaution.
"Alice leave." Mason told me as he half sat up leaning against the wall.
"But I cannot leave you." I said as my voice broke realizing how his health was quickly deteriorating.
"Alice, go now!" Mason yelled at me
With tears in my eyes I quickly nodded before I turned around and ran as fast as I could. I was more than sure that after this if I found my brother still alive it would be nothing but a miracle.
I ran as fast as I could through this maze of long dark hallways and thousands of doors and turns. Tears silently rolled down my face as I continued, my connection with the rest of the group was long gone so there was no possible way I could call or tell the rest in order for them to help Mason, soon enough I found myself more familiar to where I now currently was, I made my way now more confident I got to the large doors prying my way in, once I was in the room I immediately headed to the desk opening the drawer trying to find it.
"You know Alice; you won't be able to find it." A voice said behind me.
I stood up and turned around finding him casually by the fireplace staring at the fire blankly as always.
"Where is it?" I asked him angry.
"We had a deal Alice." He replied not moving from the chair.
"For the last time William, I had no idea or whatsoever that they were going to attack in the middle of the ceremony, it simply happened." I replied as calm as I could be trying to ignore or at least put it in the back of my head what had just happened moments ago with Mason, but partly what I was telling William was true sure in some way I had backstabbed him by not following his plan step by step but I honestly not known or had even imagined that the rest would interfere like that.
"Yet you arrived here today with your mother by your side and don't think that I am oblivious about Augustus' return, I knew exactly what you did Alice." William said with a cold tone.
"That's a different story." I said quietly knowing that he was able to hear me.
"We both know that's not true because despite everything you have done you are yet to come here again. Tell me Alice, why are you here?" William asked as he finally turned towards my direction.
"You know exactly why I'm here despite everything that has happened." I told William as I kept my voice steady even if the fear and nerves were starting to creep in.
"What else could you possibly want?" William asked me.
I stared at him blankly before I spoke.
"Assurance." I replied shortly, that was the only thing I needed was to be sure of this, despite that both my mum and Ryder's dad were back that wasn't enough to let our guard completely down.
Now more than ever I felt threated by William and what he was capable of doing especially since there was no such thing as a limit for him.
So now I had to make sure that William would not take once again my family from me.
"You're afraid." William pointed out.
I simply shrugged in response.
"Isn't it obvious enough as it is? There is a reason why I resigned to make a deal with you in the first place" I told him nearly with a scoff.
"Yet look what happened, you got your own way and now here you are attacking my castle." William pointed out.
"It just seems far too complicated, doesn't it?" I replied sourly.
"It still doesn't justify your most recent actions." William retorted.
"And yours were ever justified? You made the hunters kill my grandparents, you made Faye kill her own husband, you made Natashia kill my mother and not to mention all of those attacks were led by you where you killed several humans and vampires." I said recalling the day if the attack in Russia where I found Kyle, that day when his parents were abruptly killed and was left alone die.
"So now you're the victim here?" William asked with a dark humor as he stood up.
I shook my head.
"I never said such thing." I said in my defense.
"No, but you insinuated such thing. But what about the time my wife or my daughter were killed, you never once said anything about it." William said controlling me as he got closer and in that precise moment, I realized how angry William was actually getting.
"You do realize that they were killed for a reason, they had to pay for what they did." I somehow managed to say, I knew very well that I was playing with fire, but this was something that had to be done.
"What about you?" William accused me raising his voice.
"I don't understand." I said as I frowned confused.
"When will you pay for the things you have done? Everyone thinks and truly believes that you are this innocent wounded victim but I have learned to read you very well and now I know what you're a capable of, you see you and I Alice, we aren't that different at all, you have a great potential and sooner or later you will start to become just like me." William said with a smirk that sent chills down my body.
"That is out for discussion." I snapped at him angry, especially because deep down I knew very well that it was true.
"For the last time Alice and before my patience runs out, what are you doing here?" William questioned me.
I cleared my throat.
"The first time you brought me here you showed me something, you showed me the life that could potentially have been mine. You told me and showed me that you could give me a life where I would grow up with my parents, I wouldn't have to worry about being a good leader or a huntress; and there would no longer be a war. So here I am today asking you if you can still make that possible, if that can become a reality." I told William.
He got closer to me and smiled.
"I do believe it's a little bit too late for that." William said and before he could say or do anything else the doors of the room slammed opened and then it happened, I felt a sharp pain as the silver stake hit my body before the explosion followed sending me out the windows.
