I looked down at my lap ashamed, unsure of what to tell him.
This wasn't how I had planned things to go.
"I'm sorry Ryder; this is not how I wanted you to find out." I said in a low voice.
"Were you even planning on telling me at all?" Ryder asked; I could already hear the anger filling up his voice.
I had to tell him the truth, so I did.
"Not if I wasn't pregnant." I said before I closed my eyes expecting his outburst.
I slightly winced when I heard the bottle of Vodka crash against the wall that was nearby and heard Ryder curse before he walked away and started the motorcycle.
"Let's go." Ryder said in a hard tone.
I gave a sigh and got up from the sidewalk.
"Ryder, please wait." I said as I got closer to him.
"We're leaving." Ryder said as he ignored me.
I got in front of the motorcycle and quickly took the key out of the ignition stopping him.
"Ryder, can you please listen to me?" I said as I placed my hands-on top of his.
Ryder let out a long breath before he looked up meeting my gaze.
"Okay, I'm listening." Ryder said blankly as I let out a shaky breath.
"The reason why I didn't tell you anything was because I was so terrified." I admitted as I tried very hard to not cry, I didn't want Ryder to think that I would use my tears to my advantage.
Ryder looked at me confused.
"You were terrified? Did the idea of you and I having a baby scared you that much?" Ryder said not believing all of this.
I shook my head and gave a scoff; it was never like that.
"Is that what you think it was? Ryder if I was scared to the point that I didn't want to have a baby then I wouldn't have stopped drinking, I wouldn't have insisted on you to keep the nursery the same in case I was pregnant and it was a girl but I couldn't say anything but, Ryder I wouldn't have withdrawn from the missions to keep myself from being harmed in case I was pregnant, because believe me Ryder if I was pregnant I would have done everything to make sure the baby was born. If I had been pregnant, I know for a fact that once our baby was born I would be more than enchanted to be a mum. A huge part of me prayed everything day that I was pregnant, that we were having a baby but also deep down I did wish that I wasn't." I told Ryder in a soft voice.
"Why, why are you scared?" Ryder asked me confused.
I closed my eyes and felt how my body started to shake; it was needless to say that I was full of fear.
"I was afraid of what William would do if he found out that I was pregnant, that was the only reason why I didn't want anyone to know about my suspicions." I said as I took a deep breath; there, I had told the truth.
Ryder got off the motorcycle and stood in front of me slowly closing the distance in between us.
"What do you mean?" He asked me puzzled.
"A few days after I was born, the exact day after your father was murdered the Academy here in England was attacked by vampires, but unlike what most hunters believed this attack wasn't out of revenge, it was actually a distraction. That day Natashia was supposed to kidnap my mum, me among her, and hand us over to William, he needed my mum and I was the backup plan and mainly the leverage William would use against her, I would live only if she did what he wanted. But Natashia in an act of rage ended up killing my mum and to frustrate her plans Eva took me to France to her parents' house to keep me hidden until things settled down but even then, William came searching for me, he was somehow able to find me. The only reason why I'm afraid of thunderstorms so badly is because that night when William took me there was a huge thunderstorm, this somehow warns me of his presence since he withdraws power from them but according to Eva that night William almost got away with me but something or someone stopped him and saved me, William had no other choice but to leave me behind. But what can assure me that the same thing that saved me over eighteen years ago will also protect a baby of ours? I won't to risk that Ryder, I don't want to lose more people that I love, and I just don't want to go through that pain again." I said as I hesitantly met Ryder's gaze.
