Keith started working with voltron more and mostly lived in the castle of lions. He came back to the blades base once a month to see pidge and check on her. He was with voltron so much that it seemed he was the paladin for the red lion. He became a paladin and started fight in the war more then he did with the blades. But no matter how bad the war got, he made sure to return to the base and see pidge. 

"KEEF" pidge grinned as she jumped at him, wrapped her arms around his neck while he placed his hands on her hips.

"Hey pidge" Keith smiled gently before placing her back down. 

"so, what type of missions did you go on. What types of things did you see and learn" Pidge asked with sparkling eyes and placed her hands behind her back.

"well, why dont you enter the red lion later and see what the lion saw. How about that" Keith smirked as he crossed his arms.

"really" Pidge asked jumping on the spot.

"yeah but warning red a little grump and dont like others much" Keith warned.

"then your perfect for him, I'm sure he just find me annoying since he a lion version of you" Pidge replied with a teasing smirk making Keith roll his eyes but then that when he saw it. 

"pidge, what happened to your hands" Keith yelled with worry as he grabbed her wrists so the palms of her hands faced him. They were burned and looked new.

"oh, one of my projects blew up by mistake. But I'm fine so lets see the red lion" Pidge weakly smiled and looked away from Keith.

That when Keith started to worry more over the short altean. Since that visit he notice pidge seemed to get more and more pale. He notice new marks and her hands seemed to always be burned. Each month he would ask her what happened and each month she would lie. He had a really bad feeling and begged shiro to let him visit early and after shiro seeing Keith face he agreed. Keith landed in the black lion and shiro told him he wait by the lion while he checked.

Keith ran straight to pidge small lab finding it empty and it seemed unused for a long time making him panic. He ran to their room and found her passed out on the floor. He ran to her side and picked her up, being thankful her heart was still beating. She looked dead, like her life force was sucked out of her by force. Keith knew he couldn't leave pidge with the blades not after finding her almost dead. He packed a couple bags since they shared a room. They had separate beds of the different side of the rooms and it was clean who side was who. Pidge side was a mess and Keith looked untouched. He packed their clothes and pidge tools and gadgets she pout if he didnt bring. He gently picked up like a princess and walked towards the black lion. 

He glared at all the other blades members as he passed making them stand back out of fear. He passed Kolivan yelling he quit and so did she. He walked faster towards the black lion and it was clear Kolivan wasn't happy with Keith taking pidge and as he turned the last corner Antok stood. "sorry" was all Antok said as Keith passed and left the base building, seeing the black lion ready. Shiro looked at pidge with horror since it seemed like she was dead and unless he checked her pulse he would have thought she was really dead. They flew back to the castle of lions and Keith placed pidge straight into a healing pod. 

Keith told the others pidge would be living with them from now on and even if it means he has to share his room and bed with her. He wasn't going to let her return to the base and he was going to protect her in the castle. Shiro smiled gently and patted Shiro Keith, telling him its gonna be ok and of course pidge would live with them. Shiro grew to like the small altean since she would hang out with all the paladins when they came to visit. Keith turned to Allura who pale at looking at pidge scans and walked over.

"what is it" Keith asked with worry.

"her energy, its been sucked out of her" Allura mumbled in shock.

"energy, will her life be ok" Keith asked with fear.

"her life force is fine, she should live as long as her fate planned. But her energy, more like her altean energy been sucked out of her daily it seems. A Huge amount was taken from her and any longer then she would have died" Coran explained and Keith turned to the sleeping altean in the pod.

"why didnt you tell me" Keith whispered with a frown.

A couple days passed and Pidge woke up, Keith catching her since he wouldn't leave her side until he knew She was safe. 

"Hey" Keith weakly smiled.

"Keef, you came early .. oh god i must have fell asleep or something. Sorry i didnt come meet you in the landing grounds" Pidge mumbled and Keith chuckled.

"we not on the base pidge, we in the castle of lions" Keith replied and Pidge turned to Keith before looking behind him seeing the other paladins and alteans before turning back to Keith.

"what happened" Pidge asked with worry.

"i found you close to death and well bought you back. We be living in the castle of lions together from now on. You get to see me every day and explore space why we fight this war" Keith smiled softly and Pidge eyes shined.

"thank you" She smiled sweetly and hugged him.

"pidge, sorry to ask but what was sucking your energy out" Shiro asked with a small smile.

"it was my fault, i was sleepy and designed a dream weapon but it was just a silly dream. It would never work but Kolivan notice the plan while i was fast asleep and thought it was perfect. He got me to build it, he didnt even listen to my warnings and so i built it thinking he would give up once he notice it would never work. After all it was just a made up weapon while i was half asleep. Once we built it, i thought it was clear that it would never work but Kolivan wouldn't give up. He told me to stand at the stands and place my hands over them since i was the only altean he could use for the weapon. I thought after the first time he would notice it wouldn't work and give up. But he didnt and when i fought back he just placed straps on the stands forcing my hands to stay in plance as it drained me. He became obsessed with the weapon and didnt care if i was sucked dry as long as it worked. But it doesn't and it never will" Pidge replied with a small frown as she looked to her healed by scared hands.

"how awful" Allura mutter as she looked down to the ground.

"i wouldn't have thought Kolivan would be one to lose himself into a fake weapon" Coran mumbled.

"its not his fault, he just wanted to end the war and stop so many dying. He just put his hope into the wrong thing" Pidge sighed and Keith pulled her into a hug.

"dont blame yourself" Keith whispered and pidge just hugged him back, her grip tighten as she listened to his words.

"well, we fixed you up the room next to Keith. Why dont you go get cleaned up" Lance grinned and Pidge turned to Keith who nodded.

"well i leave you to get washed up while i start cooking our dinner" Hunk smiled and the room started to empty.

"Keef" Pidge mutter as they walked.

"yeah" Keith asked glancing to her.

"i think i might love you" Pidge warmly smiled with rosy cheeks.

"i think i might just love you too" Keith smiled warmly and took her hand into his as they walked.
