He was only four when he saw her. She was tiny but adorable in his eyes. 

Now most four year old boys would cry or run in fear if they saw a monster but she wasn't a monster in his eyes, she was just cute. 

She had long hazel hair with bright hazel eyes that shined with a sense of curiosity and danger. A fluffy fix tail swayed behind her as fluffy fox ears sat on the top of her head twitching as he stood before her. Pointy teeth could be seen in her mouth but apart from that she was human with pale skin. With cute freckles of her cheeks and nose that he guessed could be her whiskers in another life. 

"beautiful" he smiled in aww as his beautiful ocean blue eyes shined while looking at the short girl before him. 

His chocolate brown hair swayed in the wind, he remember his mother saying something about him needing to cut it soon or he'll get a mullet, now that scared him. His light tan shined as the moonlight shined over them both and he knew he must have seem older then he was thanks to his tall thin legs and arms. 

"your not scared" the four year old fox girl before him asked in a small shocked voice.

"i wish but your beautiful" The boy replied with a bright smile.

"idiot" the girl mutter back crossing her arms and making him pout.

"why am i an idiot" He sulked back crossing his own arms.

"I'm a monster, you should fear monsters" She huffed back.

"but your a cute monster, i fear how cute you are" he grinned back and notice her glance towards him. 

"your a strange human" She smiled and he chuckled.

"your one to talk" He joked back and she giggled.

"Lance, your future husband" He smiled with pride and held his hand out to her.

"Katie" She whispered back shaking his hand. 

"wanna come home with me, i need to know more about my future wife" he asked with hope. 

"who says I'm gonna be your mate for life" She mumbled back. 

"becuase I'm never leaving your side, your stuck with me" He proudly answered and she looked at him amazed.

"Promise" she asked with hope.

"promise" He smiled and grabbed her hand before running home. 

Now as they reached the McClain household, Lance turned back to see the fox human now looking completely human. Her tails and ears along with her sharp teeth was all gone. Lance wonder if he was just seeing things in the woods but he still bought her home. His mother and family panic over him brining a little girl home at night when he was meant to be sleeping in his room, something lance was punished for sneaking out after they sorted things with Katie. Katie had no family anymore and the McClain decided having one more child around the house wouldn't be so bad, plus Lance wasn't going to let this little girl go. 

So Katie became Pidge Gunderson in the McClain household, she never told anyone her true name apart from Lance who felt special for knowing her true name. She hid her fox form around his family awhile and only transformed when she was alone or with only Lance in his room. She found a new home to belong too and Lance wasn't going to leave her side.
