I was officially in a full-blown panic over the potential circumstances that could've led to us being in bed together right now, meanwhile Shawn was still peacefully sleeping next to me. Despite me automatically assuming the worst case scenario, my rational mind quickly noticed that I was clothed. Well, partially clothed; technically I was just wearing and oversized Rolling Stones t-shirt and my burgundy lace panties. But that had to be a good sign, right? Surely if anything had happened, both of those would've been discarded. I could see that Shawn was shirtless, but again that didn't necessarily mean anything had happened, right? I cautiously lifted the duvet and noticed he still had his sweatpants on.
Thank god.
I dropped the duvet back down and let out an exasperated sigh. Just then, I felt Shawn shift in the bed next to me. Still asleep, he turned to lay on his stomach and subconsciously draped his arm across my torso. The unexpected feeling of my small body under his arm must've brought him out of his slumber because he quickly opened his eyes and looked at me. We held each other's gaze for a moment, silently acknowledging each other's surprise. Once he realized his strong arm was still draped around me, he pulled it back and tucked it against the side of his body.
"Well, good morning I guess," he mumbled. I bashfully hid my face behind my small hands so he couldn't see my reddening cheeks.
"Yeah...good morning..." I said, words mumbled by the hands still covering my face. I rubbed my hands against my eyes before removing them from my face. He continued to look at me for a brief moment before moving his eyes up to stare at the ceiling. He continued to stare at the ceiling silently for a moment before speaking up again.
"D-do you remember anything..." his sentence trailed off as he brought his eyes back to mine.
"No, but I'm still partially clothed so I assume that things didn't get too...crazy," he snorted and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. I reached over and grabbed the Advil and water from my nightstand and handed it over to him.
"You're a lifesaver," he said as he opened the small bottle and picked out two of the red pills for himself.
"I know," I said as I smirked at him. He smirked at me in return as he took a swig from the water bottle and swallowed down the pills. I uncovered myself by pulling the duvet back and stood up, suddenly very aware of the fact that I wasn't wearing pants or a bra. I scurried over to my walk in closet and opened the door. I glanced over at Shawn, still laying in my bed, and noticed his sleepy eyes roaming my body. I tried to hide the mix of embarrassment and butterflies that I was feeling upon noticing the way he was looking at me, but knowing me I doubt I was successful.
"I, um, I'm just going to get dressed real quick," I mumbled. I saw him nod as I shut myself in my closet as quickly as I could. Once alone, I covered my face with my hands again and let out a large sigh. Not only do I not know what happened or how we ended up in this situation, but I wasn't even sure how I felt about it, or how I felt about him. Deciding that now probably wasn't the best time to be figuring that out, I scanned the racks of clothing and found something to wear. I decided on a pair of ripped skinny jeans, a white v-neck tank top and a bright red zip-up hoodie, which I decided to leave unzipped. I ran my fingers through my hair and opened the door to walk out. Shawn looked up at me. He did a double-take, and soon enough his cheeks were reddening and a smirk spread across his face.
"What?" I asked him, worrying that I put my shirt on inside out or something else to embarrass myself. He shook his head.
"Please don't hate me..." he laughed, his face reddening even more. I looked at him, confusion clear on my face.
"I think maybe you should go look in the mirror," he said as he continued to chuckle. Curious as to what he was talking about, I quickly ran over to the full-body mirror that stood in the corner of my room. My jaw dropped upon seeing the red and purple marks that peppered my neck and chest. I turned around and glared at him as he laughed and shyly covered his face with the duvet.
"Please don't hate me!" He jokingly shouted from behind the duvet.
"Do you have any idea how many chai tea lattes you owe me after this?" We both laughed at my fake scolding.

I walked into work on Monday morning and was surprised by what I saw sitting on my desk. Not the chai tea latte - I had come to almost expect that at this point, but by the small gift bag that was sitting next to it with a sticky note attached to it with the words, "Hope this helps! -S" scrawled across it. I couldn't contain my curiosity, so I quickly opened the gift bag.
A scarf. He got me a scarf.
I tried to stifle my laugh as I dropped the gift bag back down on my desk and walked over to his cubicle.
"You know, I wouldn't have spent an extra 20 minutes this morning trying to cover up all of these marks with makeup if I would've known there was going to be a present on my desk this morning," I said. He chuckled as he looked up at me.
"I really do feel bad, and I didn't feel like just the latte would make up for it," he said.
"Don't worry about it, I mean the point of us hanging out on Saturday was to make sure you had a good time so I'd consider it a success." Sometimes I surprised myself with how forward I could be. Upon hearing my words, Shawn started profusely blushing - and if I'm being completely honest, it was the cutest thing I had ever seen.
