[Shawn's POV]
My eyes slowly blinked open and grabbed the phone sitting on my nightstand to look at the time. 2:37 AM. My at-capacity bladder had woken me up as it usually does at some point during the night. I glanced over at the beauty next to me only to see that she was also awake and staring at the ceiling. I reached over and draped my arm across her torso, pulling her closer to me.
"Penny for your thoughts?" I inquired. She took a deep breath before removing her gaze from the ceiling and bringing it down to me.
"It just doesn't feel real, I guess..." she mumbled. I sighed and brought my hand up to cup her face, gently grazing her cheek with my thumb.
"I know you're probably feeling a lot of different things right now, but I promise you that you don't have to feel guilty about any of them," I whispered.
"I know that, it just might take me a minute to understand it, I guess..." her words trailed off. "I mean, I get that I shouldn't feel guilty, but that doesn't mean I don't. S-sorry, I don't know if any of this is even making sense," she babbled.
"No, I totally get what you mean." My fingers combed through her hair as she got lost in her own thoughts.
"I guess there's really no need to file a police report anymore, is there?" she asked. I knew it was something that she was terrified to do, so I'm more than positive she felt a sense of relief knowing that she didn't need to do that anymore.
"Not really," I replied. Her gaze held mine for a moment before she brought her arms up and wrapped them around my neck, pulling me down into a hug.
"I love you so much," she mumbled as she buried her face into the crook of my neck.
"I love you too, so much..." I responded. "...and as much as I would like to stay like this forever, I'm afraid I might accidentally pee on you if I don't go to the bathroom soon." She let out a hearty laugh before releasing her grip on me.
"Go pee, peanut bladder."

[Camila's POV]
Shawn and I were still keeping our relationship a secret from our coworkers – mainly due to finding out that there was a pretty strict policy on 'no romantic relationships within the company', which I guess makes sense – but also, how are you supposed to control who you fall in love with? It's not our fault, so why should we be the ones to be punished? It seemed kind of messed up to me, but regardless it was the rule – so our love remained a secret during business hours.
Shawn would still periodically push the boundaries of the 'we're just friends at work' rule, but his moves definitely got less risky upon finding out that our jobs could be in jeopardy. Luckily, we had told some coworkers that we were roommates, so at least they wouldn't question us riding to work together. For the most part nobody questioned either of our romantic lives – that is, until today.
"Camila, sweetie!" said Alice, the receptionist. Alice was an older woman. I didn't know much about her other than the fact that she was widowed and was extremely nice; like, overwhelmingly nice – to the point where it almost seems fake. I took my eyes away from my computer screen and looked up at her.
"Good morning, Alice! How are you today?" I asked.
"Oh, I'm doing wonderfully – but enough about me! I have a proposition for you," she said with a wink. I didn't have a chance to respond before she was already cheerfully giving me her pitch. "I know you're single, and I think I have the perfect guy for you!" she beamed. I noticed Shawn look over at us in my peripheral, clearly amused and anxious to see where this conversation was going.
"Oh, um – actually..." once again, she interrupted me before I could even try to finish my excuse.
"My son, Stephen – well, not him – but his friend! His friend is named Andrew and I just think you two would be perfect together! He's in medical school currently - studying to be a gynecologist, actually! So at least you know he's well educated, if you know what I mean." She gave me a wink and nudged me with her elbow. I heard Shawn snort from his cubicle, clearly trying to stifle a laugh. Meanwhile, I felt like crawling into a hole and dying of embarrassment.
"Alice, I really appreciate it but I'm not really looking to date right now," I stated in an attempt to let her down gently. She cocked an eyebrow and smirked at me.
"Oh! I didn't realize you were seeing someone, Camila," she remarked, clearly wanting more information. "Tell me all about him!" she excitedly exclaimed. I shook my head as I desperately tried to come up with a way out of this conversation.
"I-I'm actually not seeing anyone...really, I guess," I said unconvincingly. She looked me up and down, clearly not believing me.
"I see...well, if you change your mind – or if you just wanna have a little fun – let me know! I'll hook you guys up!" Alice turned and began walking to her desk as I silently thanked the universe for helping me get out of that conversation without blowing Shawn & I's cover.
I felt my phone buzz against my desk. I grabbed it and looked at the screen, only to see a text from Shawn.
- Nice save.
I shook my head in embarrassment before typing out a response.
- I would now like to crawl into a hole and die of embarrassment. I mean seriously? And why does she have to be such a loud talker? I'm pretty sure everyone on this floor heard her...
I heard a quiet chuckle come from his desk just moments after I hit send.
- Personally I think you should've taken her up on the offer. I mean it's not everyday you meet a single, young doctor – especially one that's so 'well educated'.
My cheeks immediately flushed at the confirmation that he had, in fact, heard the sexual remark from Alice. I shook my head in embarrassment before replying to him.
- I hate you.
- No you don't.
- Fuck. You're right.

[Shawn's POV]
We only had two more hours left of the work day and it seemed to be dragging on forever. I had hoped that this meeting would help pass the time quicker, but it seemed to only make it slow down. Lucky for me, Camila was also in this meeting – so at least I had a decent view.
It was currently being discussed who would be heading up this next big project. A few people jumped at the opportunity, trying to convince everyone else why they would be the best option. I kept quiet and let them fight it out between themselves, that is, until Camila spoke up on my behalf.
"I think Shawn would do a great job," she exclaimed. I shot her a questioning look as she continued. "I mean he's incredibly organized, has great communication skills..." I raised my eyebrows in confusion as she made direct eye contact with me. "...not to mention – he's very well-educated."
I could feel my face turning red as she smirked at me. I silently prayed that nobody would pick up on her innuendo as the rest of our coworkers thought over her proposition.
"You know what, I think Shawn would be the perfect project leader!" our boss said excitedly. I slipped my phone out of my pocket when no one was paying attention, typing a quick text to Camila.
- Touché.
A/N: In case anyone was curious, the first part of this chapter was heavily inspired by that one time Camila said that the most annoying thing about Shawn is how often he has to pee. It still kills me that she said that. ALSO! Huge shoutout to EllieGarca for all the love on this story! The only reason I started writing this was because her stories inspired me to start writing again, so it means a lot. ♥️
