[Shawn's POV]
I stared at the jumble of words and numbers on the papers in front of me but couldn't focus long enough to actually make any sense of it. I yawned and rubbed my eyes with my hands before reaching for my third cup of coffee for the day, hoping and praying that it would magically give me all of the energy I would need to get through the rest of the work day.
"Hey sleepyhead." Just the sound of her voice was enough to give a jolt of energy to my system. I looked up to see her standing in the doorway of my office with a to-go bag of food and two drinks in her hands.
"Well this is a nice surprise," I said as I stood up from my desk and made my way over to her. I softly ran my hand over her bump as I leaned in to give her a tender kiss on the lips. "What's the occasion?" I asked curiously.
"No occasion, I just thought you might want some company for lunch...also I missed you." She walked over and set the food and drinks down on my desk, taking a seat in one of the chairs opposite mine.
"I've only been at work for like...five hours," I chuckled.
"I know," she pouted. "I'm still having trouble getting used to not being with you at work." The way she stuck her bottom lip out made my heart melt—then again, nearly everything she did made my heart melt.
"How about this," I began. She immediately perked up, ready to hear my offer. "Since you miss being here with me so much, and I apparently need someone to keep me awake...how about you stay for the rest of the day?" She grinned from ear-to-ear and nodded excitedly. "You can even use my laptop so you have something to do other than just...you know, sit around. I'm sure sitting in a boring office with nothing to do would get old after a while..." She leaned across the table and placed her hand on my cheek as she connected her lips to mine.
"As long as I'm with you I could never be bored," she whispered sweetly against my lips. We enjoyed our lunch and talked about nothing in particular for about an hour. After the welcome break, I returned to the paperwork that had been clouding my mind before Camila had shown up. Luckily for me, the momentary distraction of her arrival had energized me enough to dive in and continue to work my ass off. She put the trash from our meal back into the to-go bag before taking it out into the break room to throw it away. We weren't keeping the pregnancy a secret anymore now that she was in her second trimester, but still we had decided against any type of formal 'announcement'. Apparently, many of her former coworkers still hadn't heard the news because the excitement around our future child could be heard even from the private confines of my office. I just smiled and shook my head as I glanced through the glass panes to see multiple people hug her and excitedly touch her belly, all of them smiling proudly. Eventually, the excitement died down and Camila made her way back into my office.
"Looked like you were quite popular out there," I said with a playful smirk. Camila giggled and shook her head before rubbing her baby bump in small circles.
"Not me as much as this little guy."
"Girl."
"Whatever," she said as she dramatically rolled her eyes. We still hadn't found out the sex of the baby, but we were likely going to find out at our next appointment. She was still holding firm to the belief that we were having a boy, whereas I was still 100% on team girl. Obviously, we would be happy no matter what at the end of the day—this baby was an absolute miracle, we weren't about to get picky. But still, the guessing game was fun and added a level of mystery. She grabbed my laptop and sat down on the couch in the corner of my office, propping her feet up on the coffee table.
"Have you thought of any names yet?" she asked. "My list is still completely blank. It's so difficult to name someone you know nothing about." I sighed and nodded.
