[Shawn's POV]

Camila had gone to visit her parents for the weekend to celebrate her mom's birthday, so I had the place to myself until Sunday evening - which also happened to be our one year anniversary. She initially felt pretty bad about being away for most of the day on our anniversary, but it actually worked out perfectly for me and the surprise I had planned for her. Besides, we had already kind of decided that our Bali trip was an early anniversary celebration, so neither of us had any ultra grand plans for our actual one year.

Before she left, we had a conversation about whether or not she should tell her parents that we were engaged. They knew that we were together, but neither of us had met each other's parents in person yet - and we both decided that we wanted to wait and tell them when we could all be together. Neither of us got to see our parents very often; not because we aren't close with them - but because we both live fairly significantly far away from them. My mom had met Camila over FaceTime a time or two, and she was beyond excited to finally get to meet her in person. We had decided to invite both of our parents over for Christmas so that we could all meet each other and announce our engagement.

----

Sunday morning came around and I was ready to spend the day preparing for our little surprise anniversary celebration. I had decided to recreate the night where it all started, although maybe this time with a little less tequila. Key word: maybe. I started out my morning like I always do - by going to the gym. After my workout, I stopped by the grocery store first before heading home. I had looked up recipes for the plethora of Cuban and Mexican dishes that she had made that night. I knew I could never make them as well as she did, but I at least wanted to try. As I walked through the aisles of the store I pulled out my phone and opened my notes app where I had made a list of all of the ingredients I would need - including a bottle of tequila.

"You always look so damn fine after a workout..."

The shrill voice sent shivers down my spine in the worst way possible. I didn't have to turn around to see who it was, I knew exactly who it would be. Against my better judgement, I slowly turned my head to see Carly standing behind me.

"Hey," I muttered beneath my breath before beginning to walk away. Unfortunately she wasn't about to let me get away that easily. She lunged forward and wrapped her perfectly manicured hand around my bicep as she moved in front of me.

"Listen, I'm actually kind of glad I ran into you here. I know we kind of left things off in a weird place, but I haven't been able to stop thinking about you...and about that kiss. I know I made a dumb mistake but we were so good together, weren't we Shawn?" She pulled her bottom lip between her teeth as she finished her sentence, batting her eyelashes in sad attempt to woo me.

"Honestly, no - we weren't," I stated bluntly before attempting once more to walk away. She quickly moved in front of me once more.

"Listen, I know I fucked things up for us...but I miss you. I miss you so much and I...I miss these," she whispered as she grabbed both of my hands in hers. She looked at my hands briefly before releasing them and bringing her hands up to cup my face, her thumb grazing over my lips. "...and I miss these...god, I miss these..." she started to lean in to kiss me but I grabbed her wrists and gently pushed her away from me before she could.

"I'm sorry, Carly - but I'm not interested. I'm actually engaged, but honestly even if in some alternate universe I was single...I still wouldn't be interested in starting things up with you again."

Part of me felt bad for being so harsh, but then again she was clearly being very stubborn about this whole 'getting back together' thing. She sat there for a moment as she processed the words I had just said.

"You're engaged?" she questioned. I nodded. "To who? The roommate?" The look of disgust on her face when she said it made me instantly want to throw the bottle of hot sauce in my basket at her, but I opted not to.

"Her name is Camila. Don't act like you don't know that." She rolled her eyes, a sight that I had grown quite accustomed to when we were together.

"Fine, whatever. Marry whoever the fuck you want...but if you ever want a little fun, no strings attached - you have my number," she said with a wink as she took another step closer to me.

"Bold of you to assume I still have your number...and are you really suggesting what I think you're suggesting right now?" I asked in repulsion. She threw her head back and laughed.

"Oh, please. Don't act like you haven't thought about me like that since we broke up. We were together for five years, Shawn. I know you well enough to know that no one could ever make you feel as good as I do..." she cooed as a cocky smirk formed on her lips.

"Fuck off," I spat before turning on my heel and walking away. Without thinking twice about it I pulled out my phone and texted Camila.

- I am so fucking in love with you.

[Camila's POV]

I was just getting ready to board the plane back home when I felt my phone buzz with a text from Shawn. I couldn't help but grin like an idiot when I saw what it said. I promptly replied, the cheesy grin never leaving my face while I typed.

- And I'm so fucking in love with you, too. Getting ready to board the plane now. See you in a few hours, my love. ♥️

"Must be someone special you're talking to," I heard a voice echo from beside me. I turned to see an adorable elderly woman standing next to me. "If you smile any bigger you might rip your face." We both laughed.

"Oh, yeah. It's my fiancé, I'm on my way to see him now. It's our anniversary."

"Reuniting and it's your anniversary? Well, you two are going to be some very busy bees tonight, aren't you?" she said as she wiggles her eyebrows suggestively. I couldn't help but laugh - it always cracked me up how blunt older people could be sometimes.

"Very busy..." I replied with a laugh.

The flight was long and tiring, but luckily I was able to watch a movie to pass the time. When we landed, I turned my phone off of airplane mode to see a text from Shawn.

- I cant wait to see your pretty face.

I quickly responded before standing up and getting off the plane with the rest of the passengers. As I made my way to the baggage claim, my jaw literally dropped when I saw my favorite handsome giant standing there waiting for me with a bouquet of sunflowers. I quickly lost any care I had about the judgement from strangers on our PDA as I ran towards him and jumped up into his arms, wrapping my legs around his torso.

"Camila, you were gone for less than 3 days!" he said through his laughter.

"I know, but I missed you."

"I missed you too. So much," he pressed his lips against mine for a brief moment before pulling away and setting me back down on the floor. He held the bouquet out to me and I happily took it.

"For you, happy anniversary," he whispered as he kissed my cheek.

"Thank you, baby. This is such a good surprise!" I squealed as I wrapped my arms around his neck in a hug.

"Well, the surprise doesn't end here..." he said with a coy smile. I laughed and shook my head.

"Of course it doesn't..."

A/N: I'm pretty sure this is like my sixth rewrite of this chapter. Writer's block is a real bitch. Lmao.
