[Camila's POV]
In what felt like just a blink of an eye we were packing up the last of our things and getting ready to take them over to the new house. Well, Shawn and our parents were. I had only one more week until my due date and Shawn was adamant that I not be doing any heavy lifting, so most of my job on moving day was just sitting around watching other people work. Deciding I didn't want to be completely useless, I whipped out my phone and continued to look at baby names. I was fully in panic mode about the fact that our little girl still didn't have a name—but Shawn swore that we'd come up with the perfect name eventually, even if it was after she was born. After looking for names for a bit I still hadn't found anything that stuck out, so I slipped my phone back into my pocket and got up to go see the progress being made packing up the rest of the house. Everything was so empty. Pictures that hung on the wall were no longer there and suddenly this house that was once our home felt more like the shell of what used to be our home. I ordered a couple pizzas for our lunch, and luckily it seemed that we would be able to get everything taken to the new house later that evening.
The living room was the first thing to be fully empty and it was beyond weird to see it like that. As the others packed up the remaining rooms, I stood in the empty living room and couldn't help but reminisce on all of the memories Shawn and I had made in that room—both the good and the bad. Just as the countless memories began to replay in my mind, I felt two strong arms wrap around my waist—his hands resting on my bump.
"Weird, isn't it?" he asked.
"The weirdest..." I sighed and leaned back into him, my head nestling perfectly under his chin. "Did you ever think that first night I came over to eat pizza that a few years later we would be married with a baby on the way?"
"Honestly? It's not completely surprising."
"Really?" I said as I turned around to face him.
"I mean kind of. I guess I didn't realize everything would happen the way it happened but the way you looked at me that night...nobody has ever looked at me like that. I knew there was no way that we wouldn't be together eventually after that night." I couldn't help but smile as I hugged him against me—well, as tight as I could considering my protruding belly.
"It's kind of sad to see it all so...empty," I said as I looked around at the now bare living room. "This is the room you asked me to marry you in..." Shawn smiled and began to rub his hand up and down my back before leaning in and kissing my forehead.
"If you'd like I can ask you to marry me again in the new house." We both laughed.
[Shawn's POV]
Part of me felt bad as our parents and I packed up the rest of the house because I could tell Camila wanted to help, but she was so pregnant that I didn't want her to be putting any more stress on her body. I knew she felt like she was useless in the whole moving process, but she wasn't. Just her presence seemed to put all of us in a good mood.
"So," my mom, Karen, said. "Have you guys picked a name for that little princess yet?" Camila sighed in defeat and looked over at me, hinting that she wanted me to answer for her.
"No, unfortunately not. There's a few that we're okay with...but none of them have seemed like the name yet."
"Well," she said. "Don't stress too much about it. The name will come to you soon, and when it does it'll just click. It'll feel right. Trust me, you'll know." She got up with a box in her arms and started to take it out to the moving truck. I looked at Camila, but her expression was unreadable. I knew she was stressing about the name, but I also knew my mom was right—it'd come to us eventually and when it did, we'd know it was the name meant for her.
"We think we have a middle mame—Amari. It means 'miracle'. But we still need a first name...I mean, that's kind of the most important part," Camila said as she caressed her bump with her hand.
"Karen is right, mija. It'll come to you soon." Sinu also stood up with a box in her arms to take it out the the moving truck, stopping to give Camila a quick kiss on the cheek before she did so.
Just as the sun was setting, both my dad and Alejandro got in the moving truck and took all of our stuff to our new house. Sinu and my mom took their vehicles which also had some of our stuff and left to go meet their husbands at the new place, leaving just Camila and I to say goodbye to our little home. We walked through each room, reminiscing about the sweet moments that took place in this house over the past couple of years. From countless Scrabble games to tequila induced dance parties—this house held so many precious memories that acted as a map of our never ending love story. After spending about half an hour saying our goodbyes to the house, we stood on the front porch and said one final goodbye before heading to our new forever home.
"This house treated us well, didn't it?" Camila said as she hugged my side and looked up at our little brick townhouse, her eyes glassed over with tears.
"The best little house on Hazel Street."
Camila was silent for a moment, and when I looked down at her I noticed she had already been looking at me.
"Hazel..." she repeated quietly. Our moms were right, when the name came to us we'd know it was the name meant for our little girl. I smiled wide and leaned down to connect our lips in a sweet kiss.
"It's perfect," I whispered against her lips. "Hazel Amari Mendes."
A/N: Amari is pronounced like uh-mar-ee
