Shawn looked up at me. He did a double-take, and soon enough his cheeks were reddening and a smirk spread across his face.
"What?" I asked him, worrying that I put my shirt on inside out or something else to embarrass myself. He shook his head.
"Pl...
"I can't believe there's actually a baby in there..." Shawn gently caressed my stomach with his hand as we laid in bed, both of us still too tired to get up and face the morning.
"Me neither," I admitted. I looked at his perfect face and smiled; his happiness was evident. "I'm really sorry you didn't get to be there when I found out. I really wish you could have."
"I wish I could've been there, too." His eyes moved from my stomach to my face, his hand following suit and caressing my cheek. "...but they way you told me was absolutely perfect."
"Speaking of telling people, when should we tell our families? I'd rather not formally announce anything until I'm in the second trimester just to be safe...but should we tell our parents before then?" I asked.
"Honestly, I don't think I could keep it a secret from them if I tried." Fair enough. I didn't trust myself not to tell them either. Shawn grabbed his phone off the nightstand and began to search for different ways to tell our families. The distance definitely made it more difficult and it was a little bittersweet to know we wouldn't be able to deliver the news in person. We finally decided on mailing each of our families a set of mugs that would announce the pregnancy. We had them shipped directly to their houses so that we could tell them as soon as possible, and made sure to add a gift note telling them to wait and open them when they could be on FaceTime with us.

"Oh my god, my mom is going to freak out," Shawn laughed. "So, now that we have that all sorted out. What do you want to do today? I've got the whole day free."
"Is it too soon to start the process of turning the guest room into a nursery? I can't wait to start putting together the nursery," I gushed. Shawn looked at me in amusement before furrowing his brows in thought.
"How do you feel about the idea of...moving? I mean, sure—this house would work for just the three of us, but we want to have multiple kids. Maybe it'd be a good idea to move now? That way once the baby comes we can already be in our 'forever' home?" I thought it through for a moment, though in reality I didn't need to—I knew he was right.
"That makes sense," I replied. "The idea does make me kind of sad, though. I mean, the two of us have had some really incredible times in this house." He nodded.
"We really have, but think of all the incredible memories that will be made in the new house...with all three of us." He gently placed his hand on my stomach once more. "And, you know...any more little ones who may want to join the party."
"Speaking of, how many kids do you want? I mean, I know we've always said that we wanted a few kids...but do you have a specific number in mind?" I asked curiously.
"Hm..." he thought for a moment. "I guess maybe three? I mean whatever happens, happens—but I feel like three is a good goal." I grinned from ear to ear. Three was the number I had in mind, too.
