"David?"
Zoe stared behind Christopher at her ex, jaw dropped in a mixture of emotions. There he stood as if nothing had ever happened, in her new home town. Just looking at him made her blood boil, how he smirked cockily at Christopher. She didn't know what to say or think but it was quite obvious Christopher knew who he was by the look on his face. Honestly, Zoe was more concerned that Christopher was going to kill him right in front of everyone.
"Cat got your tongue, kitten?" David grinned, taking another step closer. Zoe slid in between David and Christopher before the latter could do anything. "Obviously someone does. You replaced me that easily?" She dug her nails into the skin of her palms hard enough to draw blood. Hell, she wanted nothing more than to wipe that stupid cocky look off of his face. Taking a deep breath, Zoe opened her mouth finally.
"Outside, now." She growled hastily, pointing forcefully at the double doors behind them. David gave Christopher a once-over, smirking cockily as he walked out. Zoe followed him silently, seething with rage. She didn't really expect Christopher to follow so she didn't notice when he did. David stopped just under a small wooden pavilion, leaning against the railing in the far back. Zoe stood in the arch a few feet away, Christopher hiding behind a nearby tree. "What the hell are you doing here, David?"
"So now I'm just 'David? I don't think I've ever heard you call me by my first name," It took everything in Zoe not to launch herself at him and his smirk. "You know, there's a real reason I'm here." David pushed himself off of the wood, striding in her direction. Tilting his head to the side, he reached deep into his pants pocket. She watched in slow motion as he knelt on one knee with a tiny diamond ring in his palm. "I was kinda hoping you'd marry me," David grinned as if nothing had ever happened, Christopher too stunned to move.
It took Zoe only a few seconds to snap out of her daze, silent murderous rage filling her. "I'm literally going to kill you," Zoe said in a monotone voice, the crazed look in her eyes making an appearance. "Like fully commit murder, chop you into little pieces, and dump them in a vat of sulfuric acid." David blinked in shock, his lips making an o shape. Christopher had wide eyes, staring at her with a tiny proud smile.
"So, I think the answer to your question is no mother fucking way would I ever marry your sorry ass." Zoe had never stood up to David like this, not even when they broke up. Christopher honestly wanted to burst into applause over her tiny speech, but he refrained. David clenched his jaw, standing right before her before Zoe could even blink. He shoved his ring back into his pocket, glaring at the girl before him.
"Who the fuck do you think you're talking to?" David grabbed her by the upper arm, fingers digging into her skin. She'd only seen this side of him a handful of times, mostly when he was drunk. After each time he apologized profusely and then somehow turned it back on her so that she was the one left feeling like an asshole. "Let me guess, you caught feelings for that little fuckboy in there?" He smirked when she stayed silent, pinning her against a wooden pillar. "You think you get to say no to me you worthless piece of trash?"
"You're gonna want to shut your fat mouth before I knock your head off of your shoulders," Christopher growled, appearing behind Zoe in a flat second. David smirked as if he'd won a bet with himself, tightening his grip on Zoe. The formers' eyes flickered down to David's fingers, wanting nothing more than to kill him. "Now, I'm gonna give you three seconds to take your hands off of her or-"
"Or what?" David taunted, jerking Zoe roughly. "What's a pretty boy like you gonna do, huh?" Christopher didn't move, he didn't even breathe. "What if I moved my hands here," His free hand wrapped around her other wrist, still smirking at Christopher. "Or better yet, how about I grab the only thing that makes you attractive-" David was just about to touch Zoe's chest when he was literally ripped away.
"Christopher!" Zoe lurched forward as he threw a solid punch at David's nose, pulling back for another and another. He was moving too quickly for David to even defend himself, driven by blind rage. Red started seeping from David's nose and Christopher's knuckles until they weren't sure whose blood was whose. "Christopher!" Zoe shouted again, caring more about him than anything. This time she jumped forward and latched onto his arm, her next words finally stopping him. "Cariño, please."
Christopher looked back to see tears streaking down her face, swallowing thickly as he turned back to David. Lifting the much smaller boy up by the front of his shirt, Zoe knew Christopher wasn't going to hit him again. "If you ever show your face anywhere near Zobeida again, then I promise I won't stop next time." And with that, Christopher released David so he could run away. Boy, and run he did. Christopher turned to Zoe, unsure if she was scared of him. "Princesa, I'm so sorry-"
Zoe was in Christopher's arms before he could process, her arms wrapped tightly around his neck. At that moment, they didn't care who could possibly see them, they just did what felt right for once. Their gazes fixed on two separate pairs of lips, they crashed against each other in perfect harmony. He traced each curve with his tongue, only pulling back when they needed air. Zoe looked deep into his eyes, allowing herself to say what she really wanted.
"Let's get out of here,"
